Our prediction for Don 2 has been spot-on so far. After a good first week, with collections of about 74 crores (including all versions), Don 2 has continued it’s good run in Week 2.
The film remained steady on it’s second Friday, picked up on Saturday and was strong at multiplexes all over on Sunday. The second weekend collections was around 20 crores (including the regional versions).
We expect Don 2 to collect about 30 crores in Week 2 taking it’s 2 week total to 104 crores. But with the release of Players this week, the collections in Week 3 is expected to drop by 60%.
- Week 1 – 74 crores
- Week 2 – 30 crores
- Week 3 – 11 crores (expected)
- Week 4 – 5 crores (expected)
- Week 5 – 2 crores (expected)
- Rest of the weeks – 1.5 crores (expected)
- Lifetime collections – 123.5 crores (expected)
If it manages better numbers in Week 3, there are chances that Don 2 could go past the lifetime collections of Salman Khan’s Ready (125 crores). Please note – that the expected figures of Don 2 includes collections from non-hindi versions.
But with lesser shows / screens in Week 3 and competition from Players, a film that belongs to a similar genre, Don 2 might find it difficult to go past the 125 crore mark.

‘Don 2’ Breaks Record in North America by Grossing $3.3 Million
‘Don 2’ has broken the record for top-grossing Bollywood film in North America in just 11 days in theatres for the year 2011. The movie grossed a whopping $3.3 million through January 2. ‘Don 2’ surpassed the $3.1 million of ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, a previous record holder starring Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar and also the $2.5 million of SRK’s own ‘Ra.One’. The movie has also grossed more than ‘Bodyguard’ and ‘Ready’ combined together. The movie has also set a new standard record for the all-time biggest opening week for a Bollywood movie in North America collecting $2.64 million beating the $2.55 million that Shah Rukh’s ‘My Name is Khan’ earned in its first seven days in February 2010. Don 2 is the sequel to the hit 2006 Don: The Chase Begins Again. The film is still going strong in theatres and continues to play to large crowds in over 160 theaters across the US and Canada and in fact is till playing to packed houses in India and the world over.

Don 2 has emerged the biggest grosser overseas in 2011 and only blockbuster film of the year. Ra.One, Bodyguard and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara were the other big winners and Super Hit films. Overall the Overseas market saw a much better performance than 2010 in which only one film My Name Is Khan was a big grosser comapared to four last year. The top ten grossers for 2011 are as follows.

2. Ra.One – $8.9 million SUPER HIT
3. Bodyguard – $8.3 million SUPER HIT
4. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara – $7.1 million SUPER HIT

7. Mere Brother Ki Dulhan – $3.65 million HIT

9. Desi Boyz – $2.8 million AVERAGE
