Yes, we did nominate him in our very own Best Actor poll and after watching Dostana once again at a private screening, we feel it was a mistake.
1) Abhishek’s role in the film was in no way a lead role, John Abraham was present throughout and his role was equally “meaty”. Yes, Abhishek was better but in no way could his role be a “lead role”
2) Can a film have two leading men? Most definitely, but Bobby Deol also had about 30 mins of screen-time and he walked away with the girl in the end! How then was Abhishek even considered as the leading man?
3) Ok, based purely on his performance, does he deserve a nomination? Dont think so, Abhishek was very inconsistent in the second half.
So a Filmfare Best Actor Nomination and now IIFA Best Actor Nomination, the Bachchan surname continues to get Abhishek much more than he deserves!

yes! even though im a srk n shahid fan i think that abhishaek did great in dostana!! So he should deserve a best actor nomination! but srk and shahid should win the best actor!!!!!

If there’s a category of ( best actor in a comic role) then yes.. he deserves it, he did a good job in Dostana, but in the category of (best actor of the year) no.. Shahrukh & Hrithik deserve the awards.

He’s a good actor.. if u just go back to his role in Kank and see his performance or in Yuva, then you’d realize that he is doing well in bollywood.

Let’s face it – He should have not been nominated at all. The bottom line is – he ain’t a good actor. Sure he was funny, but John Abraham actually gave a better performance. Not to do AB junior down all together – In the movie Guru, he showed an incy whincy bit of talent. Maybe he needs to stop shaking his shoulders so much when he dancers and also he will never ever come anywhere close to being as good as his dad……………The truth is that all these actors out there today who have made it due to their parents being in the film industry don’t know how to act. The real talent and potential out there goes by un-noticed. To make it in Bollywood these days you either have to win some Worldly title, or be related to someone in the movie industry.
These awards are always biased,like every year yash raj,karan johar and r roshan movies take these awards just because the are big producing groups and the actors associated with these groups are always given unfair advantage.I think Amir Khan desigion for not attending these award show is 100% right.Abi shake bacha is here just because of he is bacha of lamba bacha
may he had flops in past………but now he has built up his actin spirit…..in guru he was excelent….mindblowin performance…………………..n in dostana i think he was far beter than john abraham….i fell like that………he is my favou……i would like him to be nominated in iifa……….
Neha: I think you don’t like Abhishek Bachan, therefore u never concentrated on his acting.. just go back to the movie: Kabhi Alveda Na Kehna.. see those difficult scenes when he fights with his wife ( 2 scenes) in the movie where he performed at his best.. then say that he’s not a good actor!! In Dostana he was so funny, but he deserves the award in the comic category only.

hello.neha…..i am great fan of abhishek bachan…i have mentioned that in my comment………at that moment it didn’t struck in my mind….n moreover dostana is his recent film n which is a big hit….thats why i thought telin about it….i loved his performance in KANK more than any one …..n u know what…i have seen it 10 times……

Abhishek was good in Bunty aur Babli, KANK, Yuva…his chemistry with Rani or did Rani bring out the best in him….since then he has been pathetic….i actually felt sorry for him at the Cannes festival. after having a father like Amithjhi, a mother like Jaya, why or why did he have to marry someone like Ash and fallinto her sahdow as well.
Well, Abhishek n John had a same role in the movie, so if they nominate Abhi then they should even John for it, and if no John then no Abhishek.
And a movie can definitely have 2 leading roles(especially a comic one)
