On Friday, Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale recorded the 16th highest opening day collections of all time. The collections are exactly the same as Salman Khan’s Dabangg 2 which released during the same weekend in 2012.
Solo release and sequel are the factors that favoured Dabangg 2, while Dilwale had to compete against a big film like Bajirao Mastani. The other difference is that Dilwale releases nearly 3 years after Dabangg 2, tickets are costlier at the moment. Stay tuned to Indicine for a more detailed comparison between Dabangg 2 and Dilwale.
Happy New Year continues to top the list, followed by Prem Ratan Dhan Payo – the only two movies to record 40 crore plus collections on a single day.

Of the all collection mentioned here, I feel Dhoom 3 and Ek tha tigers’s feat is mighty impressive.
Its been 2yrs and only 2 films have crossed D3 (non holiday) record and both had the benefit of biggest holiday in country.
Coming to ETT, it came at a time when previous record was 21.75 cr. Also that was a pre-eid period.
Dilwale may not be excellent content wise, but surely it is a family movie and it is a long run horse like Shahrukh khan himself. We love you Shahrukh. From Pakistan

Opening is quite impressive considering the number of shows allocated and no of shows cancelled due to protests.
But, opening was below my expectations as I expected anything between 22-26 cr.
Thank god, overseas fulfilled my wish with an opening of 22 cr :D
bhai is the ultimate king of opening’s, he is the first one to score 20cr n 30cr opening !!!!!
Dabangg 2 and Dilwale have roughly the same number of screens. Though Dabangg 2 was a solo release Dilwale has a bigger starcast and director.Not to mention the hike in ticket price. So it’s well compensated.
And Bodyguard did 21.6cr from 2800 screens . That’s Stardom. Before kingtards say it’s released on holiday let me tell you the larger screen count, starcast and Director and ticket prices have more than neutralised the holiday factor.

The problem here is that there are takers for both movies. Its not like saawariya vs oso where one was rejected and the other was immensely loved. While bajirao has done around the same as it would have done being a solo release, it is dilwale that has lost a huge chunk of business. It would have easily managed a 85 cr weekend with a solo release but now is looking at 65 cr weekend.
DO as much publicity of ur crap dilwala as u can but max 150…even kangana is better than this crapwala…there is demand is pakistan industry fr him

If you consider official than CE was 93cr in 3 days while dhoom 3 was at 107cr in 3 days on normal weekend. Forget that, Aamir PK collected 95cr in 3 days last year on same weekend.
