Dilwale Music Review

It won’t be an exaggeration to say that soundtracks of almost all films starring Shah Rukh Khan since ‘Om Shanti Om’ have been rather underwhelming. One could argue that the music of ‘My Name Is Khan’ and ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ went well with the theme or that the songs of Ra.One and Chennai Express were immensely popular. But think deep and one would agree that the consistency has been missing. So, when the credit list reads Shah Rukh – Kajol, the excitement levels break the roof. It gets all the more better when its Pritam who’s the captain of the ship as far as music is concerned.

Yes, the music of arguably the biggest release of the year is out and after multiple hearings of all songs, here’s what we think about the soundtrack of Rohit Shetty’s ‘Dilwale’.

Gerua: No SRK-Kajol song has been an ordinary melody! In an interview, Pritam himself declared that he had sleepless nights when he was informed that Kajol had been paired opposite SRK in the film. He had a not-so-simple task in hand: to recreate the magic of this legendary pair and come up with a quintessential SRK-Kajol song. And boy, hasn’t he done an incredible job. It’s a case of ‘love at first listen’ with ‘Gerua’, courtesy a soothing composition filled with a traditional setting (except for the opening 20 seconds that are misfit and strange). The flute in the beginning takes your heart away while Arijit, who has perfected the art of rendering romantic numbers, only ends up raising the bar with Gerua. We bet this one will stay in your playlist for long! Rating – 4.5/5

Manma Emotion Jaage: Moods change as SRK-Kajol make way for the younger pair Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. And as expected, the beats become faster and the mood contemporary! While there is nothing extra ordinary in ‘Manma Emotion Jaage’, it is a kind of song that may not appeal initially, but grows after it is repeatedly played on music channels, stations and parties. A word for Amit Mishra, he infuses palpable energy to this otherwise regular track. Rating – 3/5

Janam Janam: Arijit returns! And while ‘Gerua’ was a celebration of love, ‘Janam Janam’ is intense and melancholy. The result isn’t any different though. Arijit’s voice is at his raw best and you can’t help but fall in love with the way he escalates the tempo in the tune. ‘Meri subah ho tum hi aur tum hi sham ho’, will be stuck on your mind and although you take time to adjust to Antara Mitra’s voice, the fact that you end up liking it means she has done a praiseworthy job. ‘Janam Janam’ is another instant winner all the way. Second chartbuster out of three! Rating – 4.5/5

Premika: Face lights up as we see these two names on the screen- Benny Dayal and Kanika Kapoor. And the way ‘Tu Hai Meri Premika’ begins is equally interesting. You wonder what’s in store till the beats race up and Benny’s peppy voice fills your ears. Arguably a better party number than ‘Manma Emotion’, Premika’s catch line is sure to be on everyone’s lips. It’s a song that could work wonders after its video is out. And assuming that it would be picturized on the ever-so-energetic Varun, we just can’t wait to see the results. This one has all the potential to be a rage among the youth. Rating: 3.5/5

Tukur Tukur: After a set pattern, here comes the most hatke track of the album. How much you like ‘Tukur Tukur’ would totally depend on what kind of music are you in the mood for. Helmed by Arijit Singh once again, it is a fun number all the way. And considering, it will be filmed on the entire cast and may be the song that would light up the end credits, ‘Tukur Tukur’ may rely on visual appeal to get noticed amongst this star studded album. It’s fun and chirpy, all it requires is to be complemented well on screen. It transports us into the beats and sounds of Goa immediately. Rating: 4/5

Daayre: Most albums list their weaker tracks at the end but the story is reverse here. The star of the album, Arijit weaves magic through his voice once again. ‘Daayre’ is a mesmeric number that would transport you to another world. Themed around differences between a couple and why they occur, this would probably work wonders whenever it plays in the film. A fantastic composition by Pritam that gives this album a fitting finale! Rating: 4/5

Theme of Dilwale: Album abhi baaki hai..! Like has been the tradition in the recent times, Dilwale soundtrack ends with a mash-up of sorts by DJ Chetas with an interesting cocktail of all songs. Because the album is consistently hummable, you can give this one a chance.

And our long wait is finally over! Pritam finally gifts us with a soundtrack that matches the expectations from an SRK film. There isn’t a single song that sticks out like a sore thumb. While romance rules the proceedings, oodles of fun and pep have also been loaded in abundance! A big thumbs up to the music of Dilwale.

Rating: ★★★★☆

Favourites: Rang De Tu Mohe Gerua, Janam Janam, Premika, Daayre.

Songs are an important part of Bollywood films. Not only do they help in increasing the pre-release buzz, but they also increase the repeat-value at smaller centres if the film is liked. It’s even more important when two big films are scheduled to release on the same day.

  • Have heard only the three songs that are out so far..Gerua and janam janam are pure class.and yes both these songs will remain in my playlist for long..after reading the review I’m excited for Daayre as well

  • what the heck? where is that song the much awaited song from baghban 2 which is the conversation between queen and kajol on phone? “Hum Kahan kho gaye? raste bikhar gaye! zindagi chal padi! I mean the remake of main yahan tu wahan song?

  • @ indicine KING SRK always rule & making trends unique and now introduce 360 degree video for making janam janam song
    article please Thx

  • @phenomental, so what’s wrong if my friend @Navin feels what the reality is. of course everything about Old-Couple waale looks same as Baghban and looks like it’s either a remake or a sequel to badhban. It looks like a mixture of Hum and Baghban remake, so apply some common sense you idiot. and yeah, it’s also truth that varun is the only saving grace along with Kriti who is the only gorgeous babe in the movie, so if it succeeds, then you hypocrite lungiwalas won’t give any credit to most deserving saving grace varun and kriti, but to these oldie couple of baghban 2. have some shame lungiwaale.

  • To all those shah fans i am not a salman fan infact i hate him.
But you people are insecure.you only give importance to shahrukh’s songs and parts.

Only time will tell you who wins.Iam sure varun will rock big time in dilwale overshadowing your king kong.i am just fighting for him so he gets his credit.

  • CHARTBUSTER ALBUM OF DILWALE :)
I LIKED ALMOST ALL THE SONGS.
BUT JANAM JANAM WILL TAKE YOUR HEART TO THE ANOTHER WORLD.*SUCH A MELODIOUS* THE WAY SRK & KAJOL ROMANCE(DANCING) IN RAIN IS JUST A-W-E-S-O-M-E.
THE BEST ALBUM OF THIS YEAR.

  • right from om shanti om it was vishal shekhar giving the worst music for all srk movies. vishal shekhar were probably trying too hard to give hits but were failing miserably each time. pritam has done a better job though. nice move by srk to remove vishal shekhar

  • @ Ra 1 :

/* so what’s wrong if my friend @Navin feels what the reality is. … */

Wait wait wait … did you just say that @Navin is your friend ? Wjich means you too are an 80-year-oldie like him ? Which means , that I should also call you dadaji !

  • Saying this not as a srk fan
    But as a music lover

THIS ALBUM IS THE BESTESTESTEST ALBUM!
    IF SOMEONE’S HATE THIS ALBUM
THEN HE SHOULD BE ” HANGED “LITERALLY

With Srk nd kajol in it,
THIS ALBUM WILL BE IMMORTAL! ???????

  • @the phenom
How dare you called @navina aunty dadaji…Navina is Dadiji of indicine community…
And navina aunty doesnot deserve any reply, why you wasted your precious time on some shitty old creature, who has lost her mind ,eyes and ears in this old age.Its doesnot matter how much great composition is,her ears only hear ping..ping..ping..pinga…pinga..pinga…for every song. Her eyes arent working for ages as her eyes shows Takla mota man as hero in her eyes. And we knew she is out of her senses for ages

  • @ sweet_heart :

/* her ears only hear ping..ping..ping..pinga…pinga..pinga…for every song. Her eyes arent working for ages as her eyes shows Takla mota man as hero in her eyes */

    You made me ROFL !!!

  • Let’s just ignore @navin comments. They are not even worth to be talked abt. He is not an SRK hater but an highly obsessed person on srk. PERIOD

  • Ever since the title start with exaggerated word, I came to knew I have to witness an exaggerated review from Indicine. RNBDJ, Mnik,Ra1,CE,HNY had bad music. Seriously. There is no doubt that now a days music quality is decreasing rapidly. I must say Srk has everytime good music in his film even this period. Most of his films has chartbusters song. Rnbdj had Haule-Haule & Chance le dance as chartbuster. Mnik had tere naina and sajda who rules the charts. I don’t think I should talk about the rage Chammak challo had due to akin. Only Don 2 and Jthj had lack of chartbuster but even in jthj Saans and Challa were huge popular.
Regarding Dilwale I have seen and heard 3 songs yet and they are gerua, manma & janam janam.
Every body knows that I only liked Janam janam yet. Manma is matching the expectation which I had as a peppy number. Gerua is ordinary for me, I must say way much overrated by media also. Even in video the locations are only saving grace. Janam-janam has fulfilled the expectation of srk-kajol pair not gerua. That what I feel.

4 star rating for music has no value as prdp music also get same rating while I didn’t liked any song of prdp except title track. So its writers perceptions who wrote those review and I respect that.

  • I mean to say Indicine rated music of rnbdj,mnik,ra1 underwhelmed. I unknowingly used ‘bad’ word in above comment which was my exaggeration.

  • @Rew1

    Thanks buddy

Seems that even at 80yrs of age we have better musical taste than the CRIMINAL loving lungitards…! Lol

  • @rew1,please don’t talk about remakes.qe no ine can beat salman-amir in that category.

@sweet_heart,hilarious reply.but I suggest you salmmn fqns wre helpless at this time,as prdp flopped and DILWALE BUZZ is increasing humongously.so they are as their initial stage of brain disorder, IT’S so much fun looking at their poorest situation of life, rofl.

@sky,you knew everybody don’t give you daan still you’re coming here like shameless and everybody knew your choices of overhyped 1 rupee movie pk’s tigu nanga punga song, rofl.no one can help those meetal retards e3o ron’t even kike GERUA.it’s your hatred speaks,so keep your 1 rupee opinion in yourselves.

  • @ sss :

    After a long time … ?
We need people like you to put an end to those 80 yr old Lallutards like @Rew1 @Navin etc etc !

  • Complan boy @sss, At least my comments at least have value of 1rs for you, but trust me neither I nor many here giving any value to your comments, even if you give us money to give value to your comments, still we won’t buy them.
Regarding my opinion I know many regular user here read my comments from different fan bases, that why is said. But its not same with you, forget other I think even you are not looking once your comments after writing that’s why you keep typing bull shits here & there. Get well soon moron.
