Saturday is going to be an interesting day, as the battle between Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani seems to have gotten closer. While the morning shows of Dilwale on Saturday were a little lower as compared to Friday, Bajirao Mastani is maintaining yesterdays level and some centres are actually performing better than they did on Friday.
While Dilwale is a film targeted both at the multiplex and single-screen audience, Bajirao Mastani is performing well only at multiplexes – which also means the business of the film will peak towards the end of the day today.
Bajirao Mastani could sneak ahead of Dilwale in the state of Maharashtra and even in cities like Kolkata and Bangalore, the gap has reduced quite considerably – even though Dilwale is still leading.
The percentage of growth for the two films on Saturday, will be something to watch out for. A positive trend will be important for both films.
Meanwhile, Dilwale hasn’t got the kind of release that a big film like it deserves. Back in 2012, it was Yash Raj Films that booked theatres for Jab Tak Hai Jaan using Ek Tha Tiger which released a few months before. Now, it was Eros International that has managed to get quite a few major single screens courtesy Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
It’s not that Bajirao Mastani has benefitted by releasing in these single-screens, as the occupancy levels were very low on Friday, but it has successfully dented the business of Dilwale in these areas. When a film doesn’t get a release in prime areas, it makes a significant dent on business.
In a subtle way, Shah Rukh Khan himself made public his disappointment on not getting enough theatres, when he tweeted “What to do not enough theaters. See it tomorrow please” in response to someone who couldn’t get tickets for the film.
Bajirao Mastani too hasn’t got what it deserves, even though the film has performed very well on Day 1 considering the clash. With a solo release, the film would have probably been closer to the 20 crore mark.

Both YRF in 2012 and Eros in 2015 respectively took advantage of Salman’s movies for their [the production houses’] films starring much lesser and smaller stars.

screen count matters if a movie is running houseful and doesn’t matter at 65 % and it hardly matters in big circuit’s bcoz there are many theatres which can accommodate more people.
Means those who want to see the movie they will sure watch it.

Bajirao Mastani as I expected is Masterpiece but the Pace is little Slow in 2nd half but Ya it deserves ????? on the other hand Dilwale is even worse than HNY if anybody who is real fan of SRK-Kajol jodi and who liked all there films is comfortable with this flick bcoz there is nothing apart from that in the movie even they shamelessly copy Dabangg’s action sequences,DDLJ dialogues please Mr.Shetty stop making films and do the job of bouncer of SRK…lol ????? and on this situation I’m laughing on SRK who blindly following Mr.Aamir Khan as he starts to release his films(D3/PK) 1 week ahed of Christmas week…har film D3 ya PK nahi hoti Mr.SRK… if this movie released on 25th Dec(Xmas) then not only it scores big opening but also had an outside chance of grossing 200cr but now it looks tough to gross 200cr even if he take the help of Red Chilies Calculator !!!!! BM took steady start but it ensures long run and some repeat value while for watching Dilwale u have need some patience bcoz there r too much PJ’s in the movie and unnecessary Action scenes !!!!!!!!!!
Rofl at haters. The negative views are only by those who Havent watched Dilwale. Dilwale would sustain well. The single screen s and mass centres would put up big numbers. Bm has to grow today which its doing very minimally. So that should be a worrying factor rather than encouraging.

The numbers of screen counts hardly matters when it doesnt show more than 95% of Occupancy in the available screens. What will you do having all these extra screens even when there are not enough people to fill up the available theatres for a film? Only the available audiences will get shared in different screens.
It will only matter when the available theatres/screens get fully occupied (100%) and do not have seats/spaces to accomodate the audiences thronging in to the theatres.
So, first fill up or show 95% Occupancies in the available screens, then ask for more screens, dear fans of Dullwale or Saarokians!

I am not against srk. But how srk haters predict even 150 crs. Mathematically impossible. Even 120 is tough. Huge disappointment by srk. I wish his next movie will be better then this
It’s simple logic BM has most of the SS, the movie is a Multiplex driven one. The SS are not doing well for BM but Dilwale not having the SS doesn’t allow that initial push all movies need.The Multiplex crowd in Mumbai are choosing BM today and will drive till Sunday. But without SS BM on Monday will perish as the multiplex audience is low on weekdays.
So indicine is right in some metros BM will do better.
Coming to Dilwale the clash has messed it up badly losing SS and that too top notch ones didn’t help , opening day big numbers always help the ball rolling. Today and tomorrow if the numbers don’t hold or improve then it I’ll be tough. As the same logic holds for them on Monday that Multiplex Audience will be low and low SS space will hurt.
For haters this will be a trolling moment but the damage to Dilwale unfortunately is done by its strategy .It won’t hurt Srk’s stardom as Dilwale may wrap under 160 cr but it will hurt his boxoffice chances the next time around. In business when u get EGO u will lose most often then not as its emotional and not business acumen driven.
We Srk fans will always see his movies come wat may what stars need to think is will the product they make attract nuetral viewers and other star fans. Here nuetral viewers are seeing critic reviews and moving towards BM. If they would have come 1 week later or earlier will full 4500 screens one week numbers would have been today lifetime numbers. Their ego got the better of them. Lesson for all stars.

Interestingly I read there review today, They highly appreciated BM and mocked Dilwale in there review, Last year he talked about KRK prediction for hny but KRK trashed HNY in his review that time. They had predicted around 280+ cr for PRDP whereas they have predicted 220 cr for Dilwale. So 60 cr difference is there itself. Now-a-days, movies collect the max chunk in first 3 days and then wom comes into the picture.
ELse, even you know that both HNY and PRDP sustained and saved their respect only because of weekend. The put 100cr+ in weekend and that boosted the lifetime collections. But Dilwale is lacking that advantage due to limited number of screens.
