Dilwale, Bajirao Mastani Day 2 (Saturday) Box Office Collection Update

Saturday is going to be an interesting day, as the battle between Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani seems to have gotten closer. While the morning shows of Dilwale on Saturday were a little lower as compared to Friday, Bajirao Mastani is maintaining yesterdays level and some centres are actually performing better than they did on Friday.

While Dilwale is a film targeted both at the multiplex and single-screen audience, Bajirao Mastani is performing well only at multiplexes – which also means the business of the film will peak towards the end of the day today.

Bajirao Mastani could sneak ahead of Dilwale in the state of Maharashtra and even in cities like Kolkata and Bangalore, the gap has reduced quite considerably – even though Dilwale is still leading.

The percentage of growth for the two films on Saturday, will be something to watch out for. A positive trend will be important for both films.

Meanwhile, Dilwale hasn’t got the kind of release that a big film like it deserves. Back in 2012, it was Yash Raj Films that booked theatres for Jab Tak Hai Jaan using Ek Tha Tiger which released a few months before. Now, it was Eros International that has managed to get quite a few major single screens courtesy Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

It’s not that Bajirao Mastani has benefitted by releasing in these single-screens, as the occupancy levels were very low on Friday, but it has successfully dented the business of Dilwale in these areas. When a film doesn’t get a release in prime areas, it makes a significant dent on business.

In a subtle way, Shah Rukh Khan himself made public his disappointment on not getting enough theatres, when he tweeted “What to do not enough theaters. See it tomorrow please” in response to someone who couldn’t get tickets for the film.

Bajirao Mastani too hasn’t got what it deserves, even though the film has performed very well on Day 1 considering the clash. With a solo release, the film would have probably been closer to the 20 crore mark.

  • Magic of positive wom. I always said never ever underestimate sanjay leela bhansali, uska naam chalta he class audience me. And as for srk it’s sad to say that he’s on the verge of finishing. RIP srk!

  • Lol! Yeh toh hona hi tha.. When you try to be Jack of All Trades, You can be Master of None.
    That’s the problem with #Dilwale.

  • #Dilwale is a badly made trashy film with rehashes of many earlier films like Amitji’s Hum, DDLJ and Golmaal Series..
They have tried to put everything together, sadly they are succeeding in none. Max 170 Crores plus.

  • Marks my words…lifetime collections of both movies will be very close. Anyway happy to see good movie like BM doing good despite competition

  • Both films have sucked each other’s BO potential…sorry SLB u shld have gone for republic day weekend!! u r film might do well but u have dented urs nd Dilwale as well

  • lol as i said lifetime of dilwale will be around 140cr and some srk fans are joking about prdp.as u see here also everybody need salman support for book their movies this shows he is by far biggest star india has ever seen.proud of u SALMAN

  • On the other hand, BM’s showing better trends than yesterday means it is a long race horse. It has been more accepted than Dilwale..
    BM 150 Crors plus…

  • BM is a good film. Hope it grows well and earns some substantial profits for the makers.
There are enough makers that make non sense like Dilwale. The ones who take risk with making good cinema like BM should at least not lose money and get some profit for their hard work.

  • Anybody who is wanting to watch this movie for light refreshment – Please take a Disprin rather than watching Bajirao Mastani

  • Why there is a negativity around dilwale… And BM is being appreciated.. The trend of dilwale seems like Tamasha or close to prdp.. I hope it sustains.. Moday will seal the fate.. Despite christmas and new years for dilwale it looks tough for now..

  • do you think dilwale will wrap up under 180 cr ?? btw i’m going to watch it at 4:15 show… expecting a complete entertainer… here in chennai people are more excited for bm thn dilwale(north indians only)… only couples are going fr dilwale and that too forcedly.. ;-)

  • Higher screen count don’t give extra adience in the same time lower screen don’t cut adience Dilwale is srk best masala film after MHN so positive feedback boast its lifetime

  • It will be a shame for Sarookians if multistarrer Dilwale directed by Blockbuster Director with three open weeks can’t cross Salman’s Wedding Tape and Jai Ho 2.
Don’t forget Jai Ho 2 faced tough competition from a well-accepted film called Babubali both in south circuits and hindi belts as well.

  • Eros is like, we will sink but we will make you sink too, along with us :D
Its a truth that BM is not meant for single screens specially in mass belts.
They have just booked the single screens and most of the shows have recorded 30-40% occupancy even on Saturday.
Had Dilwale released in those single screens, at least it would have registered better occupancy.
This clash is not good for both. Collections are severely impacted for both the movies, specially for BM.

  • Don’t give excuses for not so good business of DILWALE.
Who said srk to choose same day to release his film. He can release his film on 25th Dec.
But srk chooses to clash with BAJIRAO.
We already know this will happen

    Lifetime for DiLWALE
    1st week = 85cr
    2nd week = 45cr
    Rest = 15cr
    Total for Dilwale= 145cr

  • No way Indicine, Bajirao couldn’t got much collection if it was solo as the clash created too much promotion and reach of Bajirao Mastani. The outstanding trailer is icing on cake and the positive response from audience who watched the movie make it grow further. Take a bow Mr. Bhansali and Eros you guys atleast tried to stop the monopoly of Khan’s on major festive releases. Due to some tragedy happened to my dear ones, I couldn’t able to catch BM on first week, will try to watch the movie in Christmas week or new year eve. Planning to watch dilwale too if the movie sustain on coming days as I don’t want to regret again as I did when missed CE theatre experience.
Congo to both films and best of luck.

Interesting in both clashes of srk, Salman is still the key. When srk-salman had issue that time jthj got advantage because of ETT contracts, when they are now friend, srk loose the collection as competition BM got the screens benefits.Irony.

  • I love srk abd his fans are alot more repectable than sallu fans, but iam disapointed with @indicine how they analiyse films and tend to be alitle baised with khans. When we akki fans say his films release less no of screens and shows, the answer from indicine is usually it doesn’t matter anyone who to see it can still see it.
Ideally if dilwale has lesser no of screens why doesn’tit run housefull on remaining screens and shows that is what tell as when it comes to akki films you don’t say it didn’t get prime screens.I know srk is way bigger than akki but some truth and clarity won’t be bad.

  • Dilwale’s first weekend will be 60-70 crs , first week will be 110-125 crs , second weekend will be 150-160 crs and lifetime will be 180- 195 crs
