Dil Dhadakne Do Box Office Opening

Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do has mixed opening at the box office on Friday morning. The target audience in metro cities multiplexes has come out in big numbers to watch the film, but the opening at smaller centres was poor.

Multiplex-targeted films usually trend to show huge growth in business as the day progresses, so Dil Dhadakne Do is likely to post a healthy total on Day 1.

The problem for Dil Dhadakne Do is its budget. The film has to collect more than Rs 100 crore in India and also perform well in the overseas markets.

A big jump on Saturday and further growth in business on Sunday, will be crucial for Dil Dhadakne Do. Word-of-mouth will be equally important as expectations of a good film were high from Zoya Akhtar, after a critically acclaimed hit like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

Morning show occupancy for films released in 2015. Do note that lower occupancy doesn’t mean lower collections, because films that perform well at high-end multiplexes, collect more even with lesser footfalls.
