The first Dhoom film, written by Vijay Krishna Archaya (who went on to direct the third film in the series) and directed by Sanjay Gadhvi released in 2004 featuring John Abraham as a supercool-villain, Abhishek Bachchan as ACP Jai Dixit and Uday Chopra as Ali. The film, which introduced super-bikes to the Indian audiences, was well-received and went on to collect around Rs 29.5 crore at the domestic box office.
2 years later, the sequel was made with a much bigger star cast – Hrithik Roshan replaced John Abraham, Abhishek and Uday were retained, Aishwarya Rai and Bipasha Basu were added to the cast to up the glamour quotient. However, when the film released it was Hrithik who walked away with the top honours, including the Filmfare trophy for Best Actor. Dhoom 2 also went on to be the highest grosser of 2006, ahead of Hrithik’s previous release Krrish.

Due to the tremendous popularity and success of the franchise, there were new rumours regarding the star cast of the film almost every other day. Various unknown sources unofficially confirmed names like Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan to replace Hrithik and take the franchise forward. However, on 2nd January 2011, YRF officially announced that they had signed Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif to play the lead in Dhoom 3.
The film released on 20th December 2013 and much like the previous film, shattered every box office record worldwide.
All three films have been immensely successful and popular, but a lot of people still consider the first film to be best Dhoom film.

No doubt Dhoom 2 was an awesome,perfect,fantastic movie what an style of hrithik amazing dhoom2 is an awesome movie in compare to dhoom3

All films of the dhoom franchises are best in action as well as entertained.But dhoom2 is the best film in the dhoom series.Because every seen of stealing are mind blowing in dhoom2 and hritik’s look and height are perfect for this type of film.

I don’t know why lots of people saying its the best movie when in fact its the stupidest movie of the year. Everyone is only praising this movie because it grossed more money than any indian movie and everyone is trying to justify it was great because of how well it went in box office and because Mr Perfectionist Amir Khan was in the movie.
No logic whatsoever, Spoilers ahead…. Bank robberies were done but how no idea, a super bike that can turn into jet ski its the most stupidest thing i have seen and if that wasn’t enough riding a bike on the rope and rickshaws which can destroy anything in there path without getting a scratch. Indian guys speaking to Americans in Hindi so in dhoom 3 universe Hindi is international language… Amir robbing in broad day light and there is not a single camera in American city that can capture his image even when he is not wearing mask to cover his face, no warrants required to barg into someones property and check them for bullet wound and its ok to point gun at there face.
Amir can kill wound american cops but since jai/abishake is indian cop it doesn’t matter. Amir for god sake you are trying to rob a banks here not making good relationships with indians, forgot about the start why the hell Jackie Sharoff commits suicide when he knew he had 2 children to raise, and how no one found out about the 2nd twin were they not sent to foster care, its no stupid police ambulance takes the dead body but do not leave anyone in charge to take the kids to orphanage or relatives. how the hell Abhishake gets the control of Chicago Police Department and issuing orders to every cop and helicopter.
American cops can’t handle robbery and giving the whole department to some foreign police officer to catch the thief is the most stupidest thing the writer could have done. I can go on and on about how miserable the script is but I guess you get the picture. I do hope Amir read this post and do not takes project which are full of loopholes and stupid logic. This movie only made this much money because of the brand name DHOOM and Amir Khan.
