The first Dhoom film, written by Vijay Krishna Archaya (who went on to direct the third film in the series) and directed by Sanjay Gadhvi released in 2004 featuring John Abraham as a supercool-villain, Abhishek Bachchan as ACP Jai Dixit and Uday Chopra as Ali. The film, which introduced super-bikes to the Indian audiences, was well-received and went on to collect around Rs 29.5 crore at the domestic box office.
2 years later, the sequel was made with a much bigger star cast – Hrithik Roshan replaced John Abraham, Abhishek and Uday were retained, Aishwarya Rai and Bipasha Basu were added to the cast to up the glamour quotient. However, when the film released it was Hrithik who walked away with the top honours, including the Filmfare trophy for Best Actor. Dhoom 2 also went on to be the highest grosser of 2006, ahead of Hrithik’s previous release Krrish.

Due to the tremendous popularity and success of the franchise, there were new rumours regarding the star cast of the film almost every other day. Various unknown sources unofficially confirmed names like Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan to replace Hrithik and take the franchise forward. However, on 2nd January 2011, YRF officially announced that they had signed Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif to play the lead in Dhoom 3.
The film released on 20th December 2013 and much like the previous film, shattered every box office record worldwide.
All three films have been immensely successful and popular, but a lot of people still consider the first film to be best Dhoom film.

@sachin11, stardom ?? can you please tell how much salman,shahrukh and aamir movies were collecting in 2006?? while hrithik’s krrish and dhoom 2 were biggest grossers that year. the khans were sturggling to cross even 40-50 cr. hrithik is 10 years younger than khans, came 10 years later still giving a run for their money, never underestimate him, he may not be your fav but respect him for what he has achieved in less time.

i can bring down alot of loopholes frm dhoom 3.
1. the robbery scenes were not shown, then how a person would digest the robberies without knowing how they were performed ?? thats just lame!! i think they were out of the ideas of how to do robberies, thats why they added father-son, brother-brother drama and unecessary katrina love angle to fill it up.
2.then why were jai and ali called in chicago when it was clearly a case of chicago police ?? jai and ali are most efficient cops in all of world ?? just because the text was in hindi, they called the mumbai police lol! jai and ali are more powerful than SWAT and FBI, what a joke !
3. samar stammers throughout the movie, even speaking a full sentence is so difficult for him but he sings the whole tu hi junoon song without disruption woww, magic ??
4. what the bike is made up of ?? it can turn into anything ??? may be if sahir,samar were alive, they could have turned it into a space craft too.
don’t be a dual faced person, i know you are salman,aamir fans in particular thats why pointing out mistakes of hrithik but hrithik is younger with far more talent. you should respect all actors and all films, all films have faults.
according to me JOHN is more handsome and charming than hr in dhoom,his hair style,his bike riding style gave kick start,he is the 1st model which actually suited to dhoom,so he made dhoom.but in case of hr,only one thing that is dance is awesome,besides that d2 has much more stole scenes than d1.that’s why it had advantage.after watching d3 with tingu’s huge overacting,d3 seems to me the all time big crap.I guarenteed dhoom will at it’s best when SRK will enter in d4.

I would request the people who loved dhoom 3 to watch it again as this is the last week before jai ho releases. Aamir is not given any of the unfair awards, at least he deserves all the box office success. I have seen dhoom 3 ten times already.
dhoom 2 – the best because it actually carried forward the dhoom concept, dhoom 3 was just about aamir’s performance no substantial story but good action.
Actually DHOOM was stylish movie for its time. Story was also ok and treatment was quite good. John ofcourse plays baddie with applomb but unlike other 2 franchise of its own its not a antagonist oriented movie. John has very powerful role but Abhisekh was clearly the main lead and uday also had adequate screen time. But than comes Dhoom 2 where Abhisekh was completely sidelined. Hrithik was given all the best dialogue, max screen time, lead heroine, smooching scene, max action sequences etc etc. Definitely he becomes the most talked thing about dhoom 2. But one most accept while hrithik was better than John and also it was high on style quotient with more slickness it was definitely inferior product compare to original dhoom movie as a whole. With Dhoom 3 it evens get better, they have now Aamir Khan on board. But movie is really bad with no appealing story.also story line does not suits aamir khan.

In audience they given 3.1/5 for d3 which is good while they given 83% to d2 but they not given avg rating like D3 in D2case. Imdb rating of Dhoom 2 is 6.1 with 8k+user response,while D3 stand as 6.2 with more than 16k user response.IMDB is more valuable than rotten.

And this is simple thing is the original remain best that is Dhoom1 same like K3 and Krissh was less appealing product than KMG.similarly Dabangg1 was way better Dabangg2,Big b ‘Don’ way better than SRK’s.Jeetendr Himmatwala is 300 times better than Ajay’s ‘Himmatwala’,even in Golmaal series the first Golmaal is much loved.only exception is Agneepath of Big b because original was flop while new version was superhit but people who loved Big b Agneepath was not liked Hr’s,similarly Munnabhai mbbs is more lovable than LRM despite being lesser hit. So Indicine is right ‘most loved Dhoom is original one’ and for polls who cares and that also on Indicine/sakhi-srkcine.

According to you HR in Krrish anf D2 was much better than Saif Ali Khan’s performance in Omkara.
Saif Ali Khan changed himself completely for Omkara. His body language, he spoke in village accent which is very diffucult.
Even Aamir in RDB played a reckless person with an accent and body language we have never seen any other actor doing in Bollywood.
But you think anything Hrithik does is the best of the year.

I remember when our magazine declared poll cinema……. I had no concept what to write! ! ! ! ! ! I didn’t understand that “the best director”, “the best director” means. And in what work of the operator consists, and than it differs from installation? And what the best actor of “the second plan” means, and than differs from “bit part”?

About really ingenious actors you at all don’t mention. All speak about Aamir Khane, and I was spat watching his movie “Sarfarosh”. Whether it you see I took offense then that didn’t award to it an award for a lyuchshy impersonation and I didn’t come to rewarding. And I then was revolted with its pompous, awful game. The ingenious actor Nasirudin Shah was given only an award “the best villain”. And I bought a videotape only because of it, because of its ingenious game! ! ! ! ! ! !
Its episodes in the movie – a grant for the beginning actor. I didn’t understand Hindi, (I saw the original), but Nasirudin Shah’s game explained everything. His melancholy, loneliness, rage, cruelty and at the same time all this with ??????? hopelessness fantastically looked, from his hero on the screen that pressed heart, fear. It as ingeniously should be played that without showing action at you goosebumps ran on skin for fear! ! ! ! ! !
Dhoom:2 was crap! People liked it only because of Hrithik. But no one can match up to Aamir Khan and Dhoom:3 was really amazing! Stop criticizing Dhoom:3, haters! You just can’t bear the huge success of Mr. Perfectionist!
