Initially announced for the lucrative Christmas weekend, Yash Raj Films’ Dhoom 3 starring Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra might release a week earlier.
There are rumours floating around that YRF is looking at two dates – December 17th (Tuesday) and December 20th (Friday) – to take full advantage of the extended Christmas and New Year holiday season.
If the rumours turn out to be true, the makers of smaller films like Madhuri Dixit’s Dedh Ishqiya and Imtiaz Ali’s Highway (both scheduled to release on Dec 13_ might have to reconsider their release dates.

I think this is a smart move by YRF as it will enjoy a smooth run of 3 weeks to make it as ATBB
but there are some facts which are negative as reported by soroop and virat

If ur talking about quality then even nasaruddin shah, Om puri movies are also quality films but not great films bcuz their films doesnt has audience appreciation likewise 90% of Aamir movies are not great films except few like Gajini (which is a remake) 3 idiot ( which is rajkumar Hirani movie) and Raja hindustani ( which released in 1996). If u look at Aamir movies then u will find, his movies always had limted appreciation from audience therefore most of his films are hits and averages. Even Dhoom 3 will probably have limited apreciation bcuz its not remake neither Rajkumar hirani movie. Morons like u thinks it will be an ATBB like u thought during the release of talaash, which u ppl later made as an art film. I have always been a fan of the Hindi movies and my earliest memories of films have to be of watching black and white movies with my family. As a kid, my favourite Hindi movie was Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. Anyone who has seen the movie, will know why it was my favourite film. And it’s mainly because of this film that I idolised Aamir Khan as I was growing up. To date, I am a huge Aamir Khan fan. Among the three Khans – Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman – Aamir is my favourite. Not only is he a brilliant actor but he also adapts well to diverse roles.

@Navin. Raj kumar hirani had Munna bhai MBBS, then lage raho Munna Bhai before 3 idiots. Aamr had Gajini which is a sureshot blockbuster film with any actor and lot of flops, averages, hits behind him. He didnt had even 1 blockbuster before gajini apart raja hindustani. If ur Aamir is genius then how did his most film underperformed at boxoffice?.
Now comming back to talaash, u were saying it will become blockbuster during its release but now changed the opinion. And what about Kahaani which starred Vidya balan as a lead, had grossed more than 60 crs just in india. And ur Aamir movie, which had himself, no.1 hroine kareena, former no.1 rani, super duper hit songs etc, still grossed only 21 more with huge weekend!!!?. Now tell me, is der any different between Kahaani and talaash target audience?. If aamir is genius then Vidya Balan got to be 1000 time better than him in attracting larger audience, isnt it?. Dont give lame excuses, Dhoom 3 get huge opening only due to hrithik roshan, who made dhoom a brand. Aamir films always been about quality films with limited audience, that’s his strength. @nolaniitjee. If Talaash is an offbeat film then what is dobighat?. In which Aamir khan had full fledged role. Poor Aamr did this movie for an award but didn’t got any single award!!. He promoted it as a pratik movie but him having larger screen space than pratik. He did Dobi ghat eyeing an award for his performance and promoted as pratik babbar movie to cover his name from a flop. All of his cunning moves however didnt paid off for him. lol

Dhobi Ghat was never intended to be for mass audience.
Its trailers were rarely shown TV.
Guzaarish and Talaash had similar promotion.
But Guzaarish struggled to cross 30 crore while Talaash earned 92 crore despite have weak climax.

Aamir messed up his movie climax, It’s his fault, not SRK fault, isn’t it?. Now Aamir may mess up his Dhoom 3 climax, again it’s not SRK fault. Therefore I am telling Dhoom 3 may/may not face simiiar problem with dhoom 3 . But u guys already given the verdict as ATBB. Aamir films always been about quality movie with limited audience appeal and always is, apart from gajini and 3 idiots, one is remake and another one raj kumar hirani movie. But this time he is comming with Tashan director so I dont think it will cross even 140 crs. Even this collections comes only due to a brand value and audience belief which he got from 3 idiots, got it?
