Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 has taken a record-breaking start, collecting Rs 20.22 crore at the overseas box office on Day 1. The film has set new opening day records in USA/Canada, UAE/GCC, Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan.
The worldwide total on Friday is a humongous Rs 56.44 cr – biggest ever for any Hindi film. And what’s more, Dhoom 3 released during the ‘pre-Christmas’ period, which is considered to be dull for movie business in countries like USA, Canada, UK and Australia.

@SRK haters here who expected Chennai Express to collect 124cr overseas being a desi masala movie with no foreign locations???….it’s the star power of the King Of Bollywood,SRK…..If SRK continues to do masala movies record will be broken..SRK with 1 masala movie in the span of 7 years broke all records unlike salman and akshay who could not cross 200cr doing back to back5-6 masala movies…Dhoom3 is a series from the Dhoom brand …that’s the reason for the collection….still it won’t break the 124cr Overseas record by Chennai Express(which is a desi masala movie)..i am damn sure…..Chennai Express collected 227cr nett(domestic)+124cr nett(overseas) and 422 cr gross(WORLDWIDE)………CE was a fresh script and not from any series…….people who are comparing with Dhoom is ultimate fools…….wait and watch for Happy new Year and watch out the oversaes collection as well as the Domestic collections…..

If Dhoom 3 is successful due to Dhoom brand then DDLJ was successful due to Yash Raj productions and good music and Chennai Express was sucess due to Rohit Shetty type filming.

Locations dont makes the difference ……its the script and the star power……….in case of 3idiots it was script and amir”s reputation ,in case of CE it was srk star power…in case of d3 its again bramd name and amir reputation in overseas…………
It was always expected that d3 will work even without script,and average script can easily lift the movie the movie to the sky………….
For those who are saying D3 is far better than ce,even i agree.but then you have to praise SRK and his power who lead CE to super success,yes that movie had only SRK…but D3 has script,superior action,brand name,amir khan…still it will slightly edge CE collections may be 450cr worldwide….so the result only SRK and salman can make Hits even with crap scripts and rest all depends on script,yes even amir khan……………………
