The domestic collections of Dhoom 3 witnessed a normal ‘working day’ drop on its 7th day at the box office, to take its first week total to ? 190 crore.
The Aamir Khan – Katrina Kaif starrer only had two national holidays in its first week, weekly holiday on Sunday and Christmas on 25th, but still managed to beat the lifetime business of films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (? 188 crore) and last year’s Christmas release Dabangg 2 (? 155 crore).
The film is on course to surpass the lifetime collections of Ek Tha Tiger (? 199.6 crore) and 3 Idiots (? 202.4 crore) in its second weekend.
The third instalment of Bollywood’s most successful franchise has shattered all previous record (holiday, non-holiday in India and overseas), and has set new benchmarks for upcoming films like Jai Ho, Bang Bang, P.K, Happy New Year and other films featuring the Top 5 stars.
Dhoom 3 has also surpassed the ? 300 crore (gross) worldwide and is all set to emerge as the highest grosser ever by the end of its glorious run.

- Saturday – ? 33.36 crore (8% drop)
- Sunday – ? 38.03 crore (14% growth)
- Monday – ? 21.71 crore (43% drop)
- Tuesday – ? 20.14 crore (7% drop)
- Wednesday – ? 25.52 crore (27% growth)
- Thursday – ? 14.01 crore (41% drop)
- Total India Collections – ? 188.99 crore (including all versions)
Note: The Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions have contributed around 10.1 crore to the total in Week 1. The Hindi version has collected approx 180 crore in its first week on 4100 screens.

and like I have said it earlier,these records will be safe for next 2 year or so..

Ce had 7 open days with back to back holidays.
K3 had 14 open days with no advantage of national holidays(unfortunately diwali fell on sunday and monday was nt a national holiday)
dhoom3 has 35 open days with holidays(yaariyan and dedh ishiqiyan are nt big release)

Awsome…Dhoom 3 would add another 110 cr easily in next 3 weeks considering it has 3 open weeks and 2 semi national holidays in 31st & 1st Jan …the total collections should touch close to 300 cr and once again it is Aamir Khan who will be the founder of 300 cr club…
Though Dhoom 3 does not deserve a 300 cr collections like what 3 idiots (200 cr) & Ghajini (100 cr) did. I always wanted either Aamir or Hrithik to be the first in 300 cr club and Aamir does it…
Jai Ho can record single day/weekend collection but not highest grosser. This year Best Actor Award should go either to Aamir or Hrithik. Best Film to either Krish 3 or BMB.
Dhoom3 records will be save for a long time
1.Kick and HNY are the only 2 movies which can challenge them because of what Shahrukh did with ce and Salman and eid.
2.Hithrik fans should not mention Shuddhi and Bang bang as contenders. because his best chance was Krrish3 and it could not beat yjhd.Even going past krrish 3 records are difficult until there is krrish4.
3.Akshay fans(which i am part) and Ajay fans should also exclude Holiday and Singham2.These movies would have been contenders if released solo on eid.
4.Peekay will have a bit chance if the entertainment level is high

Dhoom 3, even if not part of the most successful franchise of Bollywood that spans 9 years, would have managed these numbers purely because of Amir Khan and Katrina Kaif’s star power.
I believe YJHD and CE, not having the advantage of a franchise to their name, fared best amongst the top grossers.
There was a time that it made little difference whether a film came on a holiday or non holiday. Ten years ago, a big film that was going to work would put up 95-100% occupancies on opening day irrespective of holiday or non holiday and hold similar collections through the weekend. A film that was not going to work did get benefit of holiday with collections coming down the next day.
This all changed as the releases got wider and the importance of holidays grew year by year but after a long time a film has gone above that holiday factor. Dhoom 3 proved that if a film has a craze amongst the audience then even still a holiday or non holiday release makes little difference. This is probably a rare occurrence as not many films will have the craze of Dhoom 3.
Despite Dhoom 3 going above 30 crore without a holiday does not mean this is the norm and other biggies will repeat this, a 30 crore number is still more realistic for a holiday while a 20 crore type figure for a non holiday but what is encouraging is that it shows if the product is right then there is no need for a holiday. The holiday benefit to Dhoom 3 will be at best around 12 crore nett with the first week getting a boost by around 7 crore nett and around 5 crore nett will come in second week due to the New Year period. This 12 crore benefit is a paltry sum considering the huge business it will do in the final count.
So d3 collected 174cr in hindi version as per boi,and 180cr as per official in Hindi version with 4100 screens so for haters collected 35 cr more in flat 7 days with just 400 screens more in hindi while having the length of 30 min higher than ce and 20 min higher than k3, but because of haters just believe on no. Of screen higher but still bigger hit considering all the advantages without even mentioning factors against the movie, i think as per officials it will touch 300cr including regional versions while as per boi it will collect 270 cr hindi alone still a huge figure 62 cr more than previous record holder.

in 2 months — K3 breaks CE records.
and in 3 months — D3 comes and stomps over all living records ever set.
that’s God’s way of telling, enna rascala, mind it.
15 crs on working day Thursday is definitely not a drop.. .. wonder what will b the life time collections and yes also the collections of D4, D5 if they are in the making and no of records they will shatter..
Dhoom 3 is an awesome movie with tremendous repeat value,i watched it for the fourth time yesterday with my friends and still enjoyed it.
Tats d power of Aamir khan .. unlike some fake king khan who blows his own trumpet around the town, he lets his films do the talking.
Main difference between aamir and shah rukh .. aamir creates records and shah rukh only chases them :)

DHOOM series is huge franchies no need superstar for DHOOM to become blockbuster.
