A couple of years back, Akshay Kumar was hailed as one of the biggest superstars in the country. But the slide started with Chandni Chowk to China in 2009 and since then, apart from Sajid Khan’s Housefull, most of his other films have failed at the box-office.
Desi Boyz released yesterday to a decent response all over India. Business at single screens, were Akshay Kumar has a strong fan-following, was good.
Again, like most of his films, collections were better in North India. Day 1 business is expected to be around 8 crores net.
Unlike some of Akshay’s last few releases, the word-of-mouth is good. Majority of those who have watched the film, haven’t walked out disappointed.
Like always, Saturday and Sunday will be very important. If the film manages to pick up over the weekend, we expect the weekend to be around 25 – 28 crores.
Desi Boyz HIT or FLOP: We’d pick the former, HIT (opening was lower than expected, but having watched the film, we believe it will pick up and also sustain pretty well during the weekdays).

accordin to komal fri- 9cr, so sat will be around 10cr, and sunday ll be 11cr. so weekend 30cr. week one 45-48cr. 2nd week another 12-15cr. life time 65-70cr…;) HIT?
prob was every1 thought movie ll be same old akki no brainer so it suffered… or else movie s fantastic and really needed a huge openin…:)

i don’t know what happened to bollywood lovers. this movie is a complete package it has everything. on my opinion it is the best movie of 2011 till date. if movie like Ra-one can cross 100 cr then what’s with this movie.

I don’t think Dirty pictures should affect Desi boyz because its a female based movie and would only work in some multiplexes…… thankz

First the movie Haven’t any nudity, it’s not vulgar move. Family can watch together. As usual akshay is traffic, his comic timing is growing by each and every movie. John has also improve alot since Garam masala,deepika is good, chitranga doesn’t have much screen space but what she have done was very good, acknowledgeable !! Dhawan had tried to continue his father legacy , good attempt . As a hole it’s mindless comedy with a little drama! Story is alright but the screen play is good! If u compare the 1st half to second then the second half is a bit slow!! But in entire movie u won’t be bore. It’s not the master pice like hara phari!! But it’s not the movie which we can ignore, it’s 100% watchable, Go and get ur ticket guys, don’t go after the critics. I will give it 3.8 out 5.
