There is no stopping Salman Khan, as Dabangg 2 is on a record-breaking run at the Indian box office. Despite keenly awaited cricket matches and cold weather in North India, the film continues to put up good numbers.
If Dabangg 2 had to put up a big lifetime total, Christmas was always going to be crucial and the film has successfully passed the test! As per early estimates, the 5th day (Tuesday) collections are around 19-20 crores (Update: 15.5 crore). At a few centres, the film managed to put up better numbers than Sunday!
The India Pakistan T20 match did affect collections, but overall the collections on Christmas was very good.
- Friday – 21 crore
- Saturday – 19 crore
- Sunday – 25 crore
- Monday – 12 crore
- Tuesday (Christmas) – 15.5 crore
- 5 day total – 92.5 crores
Dabangg 2 will cross the 100 crore mark tomorrow (Wednesday). By the end of it’s second weekend, the film is likely to be the second biggest grosser of the year, going past the 135 cr figure of Rowdy Rathore.
For the second year in a row, Salman Khan will have the top two grossers of the year. In 2011, it was Bodyguard and Ready. In 2012, it will be Ek Tha Tiger and Dabangg 2!

Dabangg 2 collected around 15 crore nett on Christmas Day taking the five day to over 85 crore nett. The business on Christmas Day was dented by the India v Pakistan cricket match otherwise the film would have collected around 17 crore nett.
The collections are the same as Ek Tha Tiger on Tuesday which also collected 15 crore nett though for that film is holiday in regions while for Dabangg 2 it was a national holiday.
