There is no stopping Salman Khan, as Dabangg 2 is on a record-breaking run at the Indian box office. Despite keenly awaited cricket matches and cold weather in North India, the film continues to put up good numbers.
If Dabangg 2 had to put up a big lifetime total, Christmas was always going to be crucial and the film has successfully passed the test! As per early estimates, the 5th day (Tuesday) collections are around 19-20 crores (Update: 15.5 crore). At a few centres, the film managed to put up better numbers than Sunday!
The India Pakistan T20 match did affect collections, but overall the collections on Christmas was very good.
- Friday – 21 crore
- Saturday – 19 crore
- Sunday – 25 crore
- Monday – 12 crore
- Tuesday (Christmas) – 15.5 crore
- 5 day total – 92.5 crores
Dabangg 2 will cross the 100 crore mark tomorrow (Wednesday). By the end of it’s second weekend, the film is likely to be the second biggest grosser of the year, going past the 135 cr figure of Rowdy Rathore.
For the second year in a row, Salman Khan will have the top two grossers of the year. In 2011, it was Bodyguard and Ready. In 2012, it will be Ek Tha Tiger and Dabangg 2!

@rl. Dude lets not forget the epic 9 months promotions of the ‘GREATEST MOVIE EVER MADE IN HUMAN HISTORY’ Ra.1 by srk . During such promotions he was to arrive in hyderabad the inorbit mall on the 16 oct, 2011 but it was called off citing some REASONS. Do you know the reason? It was called off because the organisers were SHOCKED when they saw the luke warm response for SRK (who was probably at his peak). Srk next visited hyderabad for don2 promotions in cinemax and the numbers were much lesser than expected. This is not an isolated case, even nagpur gave him a luke warm response. This is just to show how ‘popular’ srk is in india and we are not even talking about the bihars,the U.Ps,the gujarats,the rajasthans and the other states. Salman whenever visits hyderabad he creates a hysteria,makes the crowd go wild, utter chaos and pandemonium are a common place, he gets mobbed by the fans and even stampedes take place and the security always has the tough time managing the crowd as everyone goes crazy just to have his glimpse. Such is the craze! Never witnessed anything like that for any bollywood star before. In pakistan, middle east and south asia he is more popular than srk, you should know that. He is as equally popular as srk in u.s.a,u.k but srk has fans in countries like germany, many european countries and some other countries where no bollywood actor has such presence but the sad thing for srk fans is that the gap is getting narrower. with each movie
