Chennai Express has passed the Monday test, as the film was steady all over collecting 12.62 cr at the domestic box office. Major cities had normal drops, while single-screens in smaller centres fell by around 70%. But in today’s time the contribution from single-screens is lesser than 20% even for major films that do well universally, so the Shahrukh Khan starrer remained unaffected on its first weekday.
However, Chennai Express failed to beat the highest non-holiday Monday record, which belongs to Ranbir Kapoor’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (Rs 12.7 cr). Its the first record the film has failed to beat since its release last weekend.
The Rohit Shetty directed film has already collected Rs 113.05 crore in 4 days and is likely to do business of around 133-135 cr in its first 6 days (including paid previews). Chennai Express then has a major competitor in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara, which is scheduled to release in theatres on Independence Day.
It remains to be seen what sort of impact the release of OUATIMD has. The number of shows and screens that the film manages to hold on to, will also decide if it can sustain well enough to cross the 200 crore mark!

all who r saying Dabangg2 released less than 3500 screens as they forget it was declared that CE is widely released movie both in India and Overseas so ce released more screens than Dabangg2, i agree dabangg2 should collect more than 175 cr though it failed but it had also an non holiday weekend so first 3 collection were better at the time as we witness 3000+ release Don2 in 2011 with 3D hike prices too but weekend collection was 48.5 cr which having One national Holiday 25dec in first 3 days….

Dude, before the release of aamir’s ghajni i considered him as the best actor. But u should watch the original version of ghajni. Aamir was no where near surya. No offence. i still consider him as one of the best actors in bollywood. If u r talking about talent why are you not a fan of farhan akhtar? because he is not a superstar. And if Aamir is a superstar like SRK or present salman he should deliver more. Where is he after 3 idiots ? and everyone knows its not his solo movie.

Karan Arjun- Rakesh ji attributes 80% credit to Salman Khan because unbeknown to him- had it just been Srks movie then it would have coincidentally been known as a prequel to the catastrophic Koyla Express released in late 90’s…!
with my article i just wanted to convey that 3i is not a solo movie.he doesnt carry the entire movie in his shoulders just like srk and salman did in their biggies.
@Anwar Talaash made 93cr for a suspense movie ..no other actor could have given a 93 cr movie in that Genre that 2 released on a non holiday regular friday + 1 week before khiladi 786 ..Aamir is Legend dont even compare him to srk ..he is like sanjiv kumar, Big B, Guru dutt

CE will definitely cross the domestic and overseas collections of 3 idiots. SRK has once again proved to be the King of Bollywood. His charm and his style are something truly magical. I am already looking forward to seeing him in his upcoming movies.

if Aamir is a superstar than hritik why he didnt overcome ZNMD even after it got a good WOM ? ZNMD got bad WOM. Dude CE or ETT become bigger success not becoz of the quality of the movies. becoz of srk’s and sallus star power. remember Ra.One collectted 120 crs in India after getting such a bad WOM. Even dabaang 2 was a crapiest movie it managed to do big buisiness. Thats called super stardom. Aamir has no fans to simply go to theatre and watch him . People go and watch his movies if its good not to see him in big screen . If farhan akthar’s movie is good people go and watch his movie so as aamir’s. @anwar you said i should like farhan akhtar its none of your business to whom i admire or not but because you are asking than i will tell you, for me i am fan of Aamir in overall, for family drama and entertain like salman, and i would rate Ajay devgan as a great actor and for non commercial cinema i like Irfan Khan, and you compare Aamir stardom i agree he is not as popular as srk or salman but he still getting great opening whenever his movie releasing i tell you srk raone released on diwali, collected 115 cr lifetime but 85 cr it gets in 5 day and remaining 30 cr collected in rest days while got extended week and talaash got mixed wom but even after weekend of 44 cr collected 92 cr when got competition by k786, i m not saying that you should like him or not, i just want not to degrade what he has achieved so far
