Shahrukh Khan’s Chennai Express has completed a century in double quick time, as the film entered the 100 crore club in 3 days (plus paid previews) at the Indian box office. The previous record was held by Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger which took 5 days to collect Rs 100 crores.
According to the official figures released by UTV Motion Pictures, Chennai Express has collected Rs 32.5 crore on Sunday to take its weekend total to a mind-boggling 100.43 crore at the domestic box-office.
In doing so, Chennai Express has also broken the following records.
- Highest Paid Previews – 6.75 crore
- Highest Opening Day and Friday collections – 33.12 crore
- Highest Second Day and Saturday collections – 28.06 crore
- Highest Third Day and Sunday collections – 32.5 crore
- Fastest to 100 crore and the first time ever to reach the milestone in the first weekend itself.
Clearly records have tumbled and Shahrukh Khan has reigned supreme at the box office once again. The previous highest collections over a 3 day period was held by Dabangg 2 which collected Rs 65 crore. Even if the paid preview collections are not included, Chennai Express still managed to collect Rs 93.68 crore from Friday to Sunday – 44% higher than the previous best!

There’s nothing more to prove.. Even in his so called lowest phase of his career Srk was constatly giving 100+ movies.. Whereas Salman delivered 7 flops in a row (yuvraj, mr. &mrs khanna , veer , god tussi great ho etc) …. Then SK discovered his mojo by doing masala pot boilers and tasted maximum success domestic (overseas no one could ever challege srk).. Now SRK has done a masala film and the results are for everyone to see.. Beating sallu in his own game … Victory never tasted so sweet.. Even if in coming times Sallu manage to break CE domestic records (I know not going to happen but for argument sake)he will never get near the global collections of CE.. Srk rocks

i expected 75 cr in the weekend but it surpasses my expectation and collected 11 cr more 86cr weekend collection, now this is the record which is not easily breakable even for k3 or d3 its not easy to break, as we know fr this kind of records one have to get min. 2 clear holiday and its will not get by any film near future as both k3 & d3 will have 1 holiday in their first 3 days, so this is the record which will be stay with srk for min 1 year and might be in next EID it will break because now EID is the festival who creates back to back records, congrats to srk, ce team and srkians that after a long time srk achieve which was desperately needed by his fans. hahhaaa noam get the answers by indicine wait for D3 ,as he forget that srk ce will surpass don 2 indian collection in 4 days which was released on christmas,2011, srkians got a chance to be happy but don’t even underestimate Aamir, as you know he still have 3 Idiots collection, which may be break by ce but not 100% sure….

Many of saying SRK is back etc. But for the kind information of all of you SRK was always here and was ruling consistently. But the Problem was SRK was trying different genres and till CE he had not tried Masala genre after OSO. At that time OSO (Masal Genre) was highest earner n was blockbuster. But after OSO, R.One, Don-2 & JTHJ crossed 100cr easily even they were not current masala genre. But that was SRK’s star power that his movies crossed 100cr easily.
From last few years Salman n Akshay creates many records but when King joined the Masala gener Trash the all previous years records with in only 3 days.
ETT created history coz Salman was going through good phase. But the main reason was YRF banner n Kat’s presence. Yes its true. Dabang was blockbuster so that D-2 had very high expectations also before D-2, ETT created history so technically was supposed to beat ETT but result was infront of every one. That what the power of Banner (YRF) as well.
Also if Salman try to do a movie in different gener I can assure u the movie will not cross even 100cr. Yes I mean it. And I can prove it. Look at the facts:
• So called perfectionsit Aamir Khan his 3-Idiots & Gajni were 200cr & 100cr movies respectively but what happened with Talash?
• Akshay’s Housefull-2 & Rowdey Rathore was 100cr movie but what happened with OMG & Special Chabbies?
• Ajay’s Golmal-3, Singham, Bol Bachan & SOS were 100cr movies but what happened with Tezz, Rascals & Rajneeti?
• Even Akshay’s Khildai-786 and Ajay’s Himmatwala belongs to the masala genre but due to over doze u can see the results of both movies.
