Censor Board orders 3 small cuts for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, film gets U certificate

The Censor Board of Film Certification has ordered three cuts from the upcoming Salman Khan starrer ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’. The movie, which is directed by Sooraj Barjatya, has a scene where the word ‘rakhail’ is used and the censor board wanted it to be removed.

Barjatya is considered to be the cleanest directors and PRDP will be one of the few films to come out of Bollywood that will get the ‘cleanest’ certificate, which is ‘U’. Most other films get the U/A certificate which requires kids under the age of 12 to be accompanied by a parent.

The censor board is usually extremely strict when it comes to passing films with ‘U’ certificate. A source close to the film said “The makers decided to adhere to their suggestion”

The source added “The scene plays out with the film’s title track and was interspersed with two old songs in some portions. The Censor Board felt it was not suitable to accompany the Ram-Leela visuals. The other scene shows a person being hanged, but the examining committee wanted it to be a long shot. The makers have complied with all the suggestions. He is known for making the cleanest family films. In fact, ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ has zero offensive content. This is the first time that such a thing has happened with Barjatya. This is truly shocking.”

The other two scenes that have been cut include a Ram-Leela sequence which had a couple of old, Hindi melodies playing in the background.

When Nandini Sardesai, member of the Board revising committee, was contacted she made the following comment “Every film has to go to the examining committee first and if the makers do not agree with its verdict, they approach the revising committee. But it has not come to us. The examining committee can’t talk (about the issue) as people are not supposed to know who are part of that panel.”

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo releases on the 12th of November. Besides Salman Khan, the movie stars Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Armaan Kohli.

  • @sss you fool, now you also started calling a class director like suraj barjatya by such crap allegations? Who the hell are you? Suraj is one of the greatest, finest and legend director who has truly evolved and brought the meaning of family love, traditions, relationships, beauty of unity between family and all such things. He is the one of the most respected directors, but unfortunately your idol never got a chance to be directed by this finest, talented and greatest class director so you are damn jealous of Salman as well as suraj. I just hope your idol at least once in his career gets chance to be directed by this class director suraj barjatya. He is much much better director than rohit shetty, aditya Chopra, karan johar, and such overrated crap directors who have directed your idol. While I have truly huge respect for the late Yash chopra not because he made your idol’s career but he was indeed a great, legend director who just like suraj knew the beauty of direction. So I can’t compare between late yash ji and suraj because they both on par as legends. Shame on you to talk such cheaply about such a legend and classic respected director suraj barjatya.
