Salman Khan currently holds the record for the highest opening day collections on a Holiday (Ek Tha Tiger – 32 cr) and non-holiday (Dabangg 2 – 20.5 cr). But the kind opening that Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has taken across the country, it could well surpass or get close to the first day business of Dabangg 2 – which released on 10-15% more screens.
It should comfortably beat the opening day collections of other films like Don 2, Rowdy Rathore and this year’s highest grosser Race 2.

Reasons why JTHJ UNDERPERFORMED?
JTHJ was released in 2500 screens,with a competition from crap cheap south masala remake(which is liked by illiterate & uneducated masses of india),2 day Maharashtra Bandh,also after every one week films were releasing like “LIFE OF PI”,”TALAASH”,”K786″,.So no open weeks.
Whereas YJHD is released in 3000+ screens.No competition for atleast 3 weeks,because YPD2 is mass oriented.
