Boss Saturday Box Office Collections

Akshay Kumar’s Boss has failed to show any escalation in business on Saturday, as the film fell both at single-screens and multiplexes. Even though there was noticeable growth in business at big centres for the evening and nights show on Saturday, the starting point was so low that the 4-day figures are way below trade expectations.

A leading film distributor who didn’t want to be named says “After Besharam, a lot was riding on Boss. It was expected to collect at least 45 crore in 5 days. But now it looks certain to end up under the 40 crore mark. After a reasonably good first day at single screens, there was hope that it would eventually pick up all over on Saturday as the response was much better than Besharam or Akshay’s last film (Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbaai Dobaara). But with business at single-screens steadily dropping from Friday, Boss might eventually go on to be Akshay Kumar’s lowest grosser of the year”

A few others in the industry say, the pre-Diwali period, Wednesday release, genre (hardcore action which family audience tend to avoid) and the fact that Akshay’s last release did not fare too well, has resulted in Boss under-performing at the box office.

• Saturday – 6.2 crore (5% growth)
• 4 day collections – 32.82 crore
