Akshay Kumar’s Boss has failed to show any escalation in business on Saturday, as the film fell both at single-screens and multiplexes. Even though there was noticeable growth in business at big centres for the evening and nights show on Saturday, the starting point was so low that the 4-day figures are way below trade expectations.
A leading film distributor who didn’t want to be named says “After Besharam, a lot was riding on Boss. It was expected to collect at least 45 crore in 5 days. But now it looks certain to end up under the 40 crore mark. After a reasonably good first day at single screens, there was hope that it would eventually pick up all over on Saturday as the response was much better than Besharam or Akshay’s last film (Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbaai Dobaara). But with business at single-screens steadily dropping from Friday, Boss might eventually go on to be Akshay Kumar’s lowest grosser of the year”
A few others in the industry say, the pre-Diwali period, Wednesday release, genre (hardcore action which family audience tend to avoid) and the fact that Akshay’s last release did not fare too well, has resulted in Boss under-performing at the box office.

- Thursday – 7.84 crore (39% drop)
- Friday – 5.93 crore (24% drop)
- Saturday – 6.2 crore (5% growth)
- 4 day collections – 32.82 crore
Man I feel sad for Akshay. He puts so much effort in all of his movies. He deserves A HIT. Still hope Holiday will do great at the BO. Let’s See.

But you can replace CE with YJHD in overrated list,CE was fun watch,pure entertainment while YJHD had nothing of a story,just worked bcoz of RK-DP chemistry, superhit music and Dharma prod.
Also u can replace Ajay devgan with Imran Khan in OUATIMD,Ajay did well in the movie critics also praised him.
@rowdyboss, that means SRK is truly a megastar compared to any other, because if we say his bad phase started from MNIK to JTHJ, 3 of his films collected 100cr+ and his lowest was 80cr with all his films being tagged a hit.
No other star has managed these figures in their ‘bad phase’ even in most recent times.

People are most probably saving money for Krrish 3 and Dhoom 3!
Akshay will come back soon,no doubt. Boss was not a good film, but Akshay haters say that its better than Dabangg. If srk or salman do 4 or 5 films in an year, their films will also open like this.
Remember SRK was behind Akshay before CE and Salman’s Marigold opened to 1 crore. Even worst of Akshay films are still doing 60-70 crore business. Waiting for Holiday.
@nipun , Actually ajay’s acting in himmatwala was pretty good compared to other superstars. worst acting in this year so far by is from srk for Chennai Express. i doubt even uday chopra could be able beat srk for the coveted worst actor awards..
One thing you need to understand.. Akshay Kumar is a Megastar! A similar situation happened back in 2011 when he had a few flops, but he bounced back with films like Housefull 2 and Rowdy Rathore.. Same will happen in 2014.. He has great movies lined up… Holiday, It’s entertainment, Gabbar.. He will be back with a bang in 2014..
