The much-delayed Bombay Velvet releases in theatres tomorrow and the stakes are incredibly high. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer is by far the costliest film of the year and recovery won’t be easy if the opening day business is anything less than Rs 15 crore.
Unfortunately, the pre-release excitement amongst the audience, which is very important for a big budget film like Bombay Velvet, is completely missing. Even the advance booking is much lower than what it should be for a film costing Rs 110 crore to make and promote. The theatrical trailer wasn’t received well, music hasn’t clicked and the film itself is unlikely to hold any appeal outside the main metro cities.

The only hope is Ranbir Kapoor, who commands a huge fan-following amongst the youth. Even with his star power, Bombay Velvet is unlikely to survive beyond a day or two, if the content isn’t good enough.

In the reviews so far i have read,most are talking about a very complex,convoluted plot..so i don’t think BV will survive in long run at all.
It would be a huge achievement if it manages a Flop,coz Disaster is what it is looking at the moment..

Bombay Velvet was never looking like an interesting movie since its trailer and the songs cleared all my doubts . Anurag has given good movies but these kind of movies are not his cup of tea . The budget is very high for a Ranbir movie so it will be really tough . This movie will be flop and if it is not accepted then it can be Disaster . Ranbir has a long way to go before he can be called as a Superstar . YJHD was a huge success at the Box Office and Ranbir fans called him the next Superstar . Then he did movies like Besharam and Roy . I hope Ranbir improves his acting and script sense . Tamasha will release on 27th Nov 2015 and that is a huge movie for Ranbir and Deepika . After 2 back to back successful movies in 2 weeks this will be the first failure in the month of May .

so many people saying that ranbir is bigger star than akki. so after releasing of Bv is the best time to compare. bcoz baby came on 23 Jan and after 3 weaks Roy came and collected 45 cr. less than baby. same thing happened this time bv is coming 2 weak after GiB. and if this film fail to surpass the GiB collection then this is clear that akki is better than ranbir. one thing noted that ranbir last film came on 2oct 2013 and after that akki had released his 4 films before 2015

Indicine team, I think you are under estimating Ranbir’s starpower. It will not be able to take 20 crore opening like Sheheer said. This film has Ranbir in a full fledged role after a gap of more than one & a half year. Anushka also has her own fan following. So opening should be a double digit fig. Without hit music & with an actress like Pallavi Sharda he was able to give 20 crore opening for Besharam.But looking at promos it seems difficult to go over 15 crore.
