Salman Khan has been doing a lot of charity work in the last few years. His ‘Being Human’ NGO is one of the biggest charity organisations in the country. Recently, he even pledged his support Sarabjit Singh, who is imprisoned in Pakistan.
But with Ek Tha Tiger set for theatrical release, he’s been literally forced to put his charity work on hold.
In an interview with Sonal Kalra of Hindustan Times, Salman makes his frustrations clear.
I’m so fed up. Ek toh round the clock promotions with no time to breathe, and then the advice that any charity work at this time will look like a publicity gimmick. How frustrating is that?
Of course I’ll use my star power for my NGO — and my film (Ek Tha Tiger). At least I say, chhati thok ke, that I’m contributing five percent of everything I earn, towards the NGO’s work. What angers me is when people expect me to come for events for free, trying to use the charity card. Arrey, Salman ko bulao toh Salman ka price do. (If you want Salman, you’ll have to pay his price too). If I keep doing everything for free, how will I fund my NGO? Just yesterday we organised a cataract camp. We are doing operations for 40-45 people everyday. What do others do.. just talk?
Even when I campaigned for the release of Sarabjit Singh who’s lodged in Pakistani jail, I only had good intentions. But I’ve had to put that on hold because I’m being told that, close to the release of Ek Tha Tiger, it’ll look like a gimmick. Ab kya karun, if I take it up after 5-6 months, you’ll say it’s a publicity stunt for Dabangg 2. Bloody frustrating.
You got to feel for Salman, does he really need publicity? Despite his serious health condition, he takes time out to help the not-so-fortunate. But the media, unfortunately, makes everything look like a publicity stunt. Sad.
Why do you pay so much attention to media??? Just ignore them…You are standing high on top of your career and I wish you all the best for Ek Tha Tiger…

I must say he is the only one contributing more and more to society I am not saying other not doing but salman is far ahead of them and some people always behind him in negative way that’s really not good.

Wo khud tu kuch karte nahi hai. aur koi dusra karta hai to us par ungli uthate hi hai. aap Allah ke nek bande ho. iska inam Allah aapko de raha hai aur aage bhi dega Aamin.

@karun- where were you when these things happened? where u with salman??? do u know the truth???… these are all media fabricated fake news… and as far as his court cases are concerned he has not been proved guilty… he has been falsely dragged into these cases… and last but not the least just see what an amazing job he does with his NGO being human… thats why he is so blessed… he’s indeed a man with a golden heart!!!

bechara salman kitna frustated hai voh, apna charity work ko itna chupa raha hai voh phir bhi media public bana rahe hai, ur telling u did 45 to 46 people operation right before the release of ek tha tiger and telling that every one feel its a public gimmick if he said at the time of release, hahahahahaha salma ur great hahahahaha
even Rajini kanth doing lot of chairty work more than anyone but i never heard him talking about it publicly, i heard salman saying not once but lot of times in an interview, arrey salman 5 % donate karlo that will be more than enough for poor people, but plz dont bark about it always for god sake
