Bang Bang has done well in its second weekend, with net box office collections of around 19 cr including all versions. The film showed good growth in business on both Saturday and Sunday at multiplexes. Mass centres were down by more than 80% this weekend, both because the content of the film hasn’t lived upto expectations and also because the pre-Diwali phase has set in resulting in poor occupancy in a few circuits.
The Hrithik Roshan starrer has now crossed the 150 crore mark in India and should finish with lifetime business of around 170-175 cr. The film has emerged a ‘HIT’ and Bang Bang will be a profitable film for Fox Star Studios. The overseas business of the film is outstanding, more on this later.

So I banged exactly the same. I predicted 160-180 cr for Bang Bang and it is falling in that range only :)
Also happy to see that it got HIT status. I’m happy for Hrithik, a humble and honest persona of our industry.
But sorry to repeat it again, Bang Bang failed in terms of content and screenplay. It had all the chances to cross Kick/CE if not D3. Everything was favouring it including the release timing, buzz etc. But it was the content which affected the collections a big time.
Anyway good luck for Mohenjo-Daro. I want to see him in a character similar to Akbar of Jodha-Akbar.

Well at the end. It is a flop for a super star with such expectations and fell short of like if we compare it to just Kick its 58 crores(say 175cr final).
HR fans now you should have realized that for such copy cat movie, saying we don’t need promotions. Now your heads r in motion in a circle(no offense).

Little happy now……but I expected easy 200 cr for bang bang…..this movie is not bad…but indian people like raw action rather than slick action….ex don2…..still it is very good result….now its time for hny….

Bare minimum- Jai Ho will be Bhais second biggest HIT of all time without breaking sweat…. Even if its received poorly it wont matter coz after the weekend it would have earned 90cr plus and be oncourse to earn 160cr plus due to 2 open weeks and single screen audience just wanting to watch bhai bash up the gunday for afew weeks at least…!
If it gets a good to great response from multiplex audience then ETT will be surpassed and Jai Ho will join the 200 cr club in second week / 3rd weekend.
My bet- 220-250cr… Sohail seems confident of the movie, bhai jaan was praising the script but more so narration /story telling /message oriented dialogues so I just dont see how the film will not be a huge HIT unless multiplex audience stay away in droves but they wont I believe as this is the Biggest Big Ticket Film for the next few months so they will come out and party with Bhai Jaan. well all collections coming after the 5 day holiday period are due to the star power of Hrithik. Even after such bad WOM, film has sustained due to the power and charisma of Hrithik. Had it been even an average film it really would had collection close to around Dhoom 3 or even more than that. But now for Hrithik the challenge is to make his next MohenjoDaro a masterpiece and get the highest collections, awards and show the world, he is the best.

Much more was expected from this film but still if it manages to become a hit then there is never a doubt that it is a success.. only the magnitude of success would be on the lower side
So, it is the first movie in 150 crore club domestically and 300 crore globally which is neither a blockbuster or ATBB.
300+ gross worldwide shows it has been a success. Under performed about 25-30 crore in domestic market.

@Gautam, I understand your feelings, but despite recording highest occupancy for any film in 2014, it could only collect 27 crore on its opening day as number of shows were decreased, lesser than Singham Returns and even Mary Kom, which affected its business in first few days, as it had no chance to touch 30 crore figure even once.
Then due to negativity around it (mixed WOM, negative from critics), it couldn’t sustain well enough in weekdays. Just like a huge success has various factors behind it like star power, holiday, festive period, trailer, music, release timing (solo release), and content to do well in weekdays, a failure or under performer too has various reasons as we saw in case with Jai Ho and Kick, and now Bang Bang.
It didn’t trend well in weekdays like most of blockbusters, but it could have done way better in opening weekend if it was a solo release. So, yeah it has under performed domestically, but it didn’t exactly have “everything” in its favor.
