Bang Bang Business Economics

Hrithik Roshan’s latest release Bang Bang has done well enough in India to earn itself ‘HIT’ status. In the overseas markets, business was outstanding – Bang Bang is Hrithik’s highest grosser to date and also the highest grossing film overseas this year ahead of Salman Khan’s Kick.

Let’s take a look at the business economics of the film.

  • Total investment: Bang Bang was produced and promoted at a cost of Rs 140 crore, including Hrithik Roshan’s acting fee.

Recovery

  • Music rights: 5 crore
  • Overseas share: 34 crore (expected)
  • India share: 52 crores (expected from circuits distributed by Fox)
  • Satellite rights: 40-45 crore (approx, rights with Star TV Network)
  • Recovery from circuits sold to individual distributors: 32 cr
  • Total recovery – 163 - 168 crore

Overall, Bang Bang is a profitable film for Fox Star Studios. The trade expected a 200 crore grosser, which is why Bang Bang is perceived to have under-performed in India. Individual distributors in circuits like Rajasthan, C.I, C.P Berar will lose some of their investment, but that is only because of the premium they paid for the rights.

Note: All figures above are our estimates based on information from various trade sources.

  • now the success ratio of hr nd srk career is completely equal. Other khan or kapoor is way back of dis guys…. Acc. Clean hit ~ semi hit-atbb only hit word in verdict show succeed or failure… Dis is 11th clean hit for hrithik with hit verdict in domestic market and bb in overseas

  • @indicine, u should give a film verdict basis of Distributor share not by producer profit.. For ur kind information with Jai Ho Sohail khan made a profit of huge 110crs+ (according to Taran Adarsh & Komal Nehta). But it does not mean anything.. The film was not even a clean Hit..
At the time of Khiladi 786 producer’s verdict was Blockbuster Hit. But trade says its Below Average!
Producers profit does not mean anything when distributors loose their money paid for a film.. So Bang bang is Below Average/Average as par trade (for sure). We belive Trade Verdict not producers.
    Thank u
