Dhoom is inarguably the biggest franchise in the industry, so the very fact that a film like Bajrangi Bhaijaan has beaten Dhoom 3 on 4 of its first day 6 days at the box office, is a huge achievement.
Due to lack of holidays, surpassing Bollywood’s highest grosser of all time might prove to be a difficult task for the Salman Khan starrer, but the Kabir Khan film has every chance of beating Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 to become the 2nd highest grossing film of all time.
Also, the word-of-mouth of Bajrangi Bhaijaan is far more positive as compared to Dhoom 3, which should result in better trends in the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately, the difference again could be one extra holiday (New Year) and open week, which could make this a tough contest between two hugely popular films.

23 July Update: At the end of Day 6, Dhoom 3 is leading by Rs 5.88 crore because of a holiday for Christmas on its 6th day. The second weekend collections is likely to decide the result. Dhoom 3 collected Rs 38.85 crore in its second weekend, if Bajrangi Bhaijaan can collect about 15% more i.e somewhere around Rs 45 crore, it will eventually beat Dhoom 3 and also have a shot at becoming the 2nd 300 crore grosser.
24 July Update: Dhoom 3 leads by Rs 4.34 crore, but Bajrangi Bhaijaan has sustained well and shown better trends during the weekdays. Second weekend figures will decide the outcome of the clash.
26 July Update: The last two days have turned the tables in favour of Bajrangi Bhaijaan big time! The film is showing much better trends. 2nd Friday: Bajrangi Bhaijaan 13.15 cr, Dhoom 3 10.1 cr. 2nd Saturday: Bajrangi Bhaijaan 20.05 cr, Dhoom 3 12.04 cr. Massive difference. During our last update, we had said that the second weekend figures would decide the outcome, it has! Bajrangi Bhaijaan will beat the lifetime collections of Dhoom 3 by the end of its 2nd week or in its 3rd weekend.

It will surely beat D3 but PK will be difficult. Had BB got 1 national holiday n 1 open week it wud have definitely surpass PK. The trend n wom for BB is extremely good only lack of holidays will dent its collections. 300 crs looks achievable which is a humugonous task !!!!!!!

yes the real test starts now as holiday period for Bajrangi Bhaijaan is over whereas films like D3 and PK released on normal weekends with holidays starting on and after day 6 & 7.
But nevertheless the business of BB is phenomenal and we definitely have another entrant to the 250 cr club…..and obviously 300 is still on!
It has an outside chance of beating D3..2nd weekend will decide how far it will reach..I feel it may fall short by 5-10crs..Even though I am an Aamir fan, i wud love to see BB beats D3 records as I feel its a better movie..More power to Salman and his fans !All the Best!
300+ crores is realistically achievable but beating pk’s collections at this point of time looks very difficult .
Another sad & nightmarish news for srk fans is that the emperor khan salman is all set to start shooting for ‘sultan’ from Nov , hahaha ‘cRApEES’ ka tho ‘strip tease’ ho jayega rei when the nautanki item queen srk clashes with the mighty sultan of Bollywood :D :D

All those srk fans who were lurking after the release of BB are suddenly back as they saw a minimal drop in collection. Relax guys, even the so called dropped collection, ie 18.5 cr on Wednesday, is much more than the Monday collection of Happy New Year. And just reminding you it will beat highest grosser of your global superstar (Chennai Express) within next 2-3 days.
@Indicine I don’t know what made you think that Pk’s collection is out of reach already. Yes both Dhoom 3 and Pk had some extra holiday advantage. But I think BB has already compensated Christmas day’s collection by collecting equal or even more in week one (185 cr). Now only issue is New Year holiday. If you look closely, Dhoom 3 had just collected 10 cr on New Year. I am sure Bajrangi can do this even in a normal day thanks to its excellent word of mouth.
I know Pk collection is tough but BB can go anywhere. The movie has a superstar, excellent content and the best word of mouth. I wont be surprised if it collection more than 90 cr in its second week.
It deserves to break D3’s collection. It’s a far superior film. Also, since it’s trending so well, the chances look to be optimistic.
