Bajirao Mastani has collected Rs 20.5 crore at the domestic box office, taking its 17 day total to Rs 162.36 crore net. The film is a big winner both at the domestic and overseas box office, exceeding trade expectations by a huge margin.
Looking at the way the film has sustained and performed in the last few days, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed film could add another 20 crore in India in the next few days, to take its lifetime business to around the 180 crore mark. The film would have been even more profitable for the investors if the holidays came in Week 1, because share drops in the second week.
Overseas business was outstanding too, what with Bajirao Mastani almost certain to cross the 100 crore mark. The film is expected to be released in more countries in Phase 2.

Excellent. And week 2 under performed otherwise 200Cr was a possibility. It definitely deserved to beat PRDP which was a big crap and Salman’s star power and diwali saved it from turning into Bombay velvet 2.
Also SRK beaten in a clash after a long time. Last time he was beaten by sunny deol when Indian and Ashoka had clashed way back in 2001. Also commercial success aside BM will also sweep all major awards this year. SLB has taken a proper revenge here. Dilwale verdict wont be disaster but for its distributors it is a big disaster.

I think these days most verdicts are given on perception and not budget.. Even when looked at it in that way.. Dilwale was expected to do minimum 200 crore before release and BM was not more than 100.
Even BOI wrote an article that it won’t do more than 100 because Mumbai circuit might find tough to cross 50.
