It never made any business sense, but Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the lead cast of ‘Bajirao Mastani’ had reconfirmed time and again that their film would hit screens during Christmas 2015.
However, reliable sources close to Sanjay Leela Bhansali have confirmed that the makers of ‘Bajirao Mastani’ are now looking at a solo release date in 2016.
The reports come a week after Red Chillies Entertainment officially announced the release date of Rohit Shetty’s ‘Dilwale’ starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon.
Earlier this week, there were also reports that the shoot of ‘Bajirao Mastani’ was delayed by a few days due to Ranveer Singh’s surgery and Bhansali wanting to reshoot a song sequence of the film.
The period drama starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra in the lead, is touted to be one of the costliest films produced in Bollywood. A clash against a Shahrukh – Kajol film could have backfired big time, more so since Bhansali’s ‘Saawariya’ failed to match upto SRK’s Om Shanti Om back in 2007.
While the news is yet to be officially confirmed by Eros International or Sanjay Leela Bhansali, it’s more or less confirmed that the film won’t release in December.
There you go then, Shah Rukh Khan will get a solo Christmas release this year.
That’s good news for both fans & the industry.

It should postpone. SRK is a much bigger star and Dilwale much more commercial. BM would struggle for a good opening in a clash with Dilwale and find it impossible to recover its budget.

Remember a scene from CE where the criminals from Srilanka on Ship say, “Hindi toh hum bhi bol sakte hain. Yeh dekho HINDI. Dekha humne kaise Hindi bola” It was a PJ! Best scenes in CE are those who didn’t contain comedy and action. BM will be a better film. Hands down!

But there r 4 superstars in dilwale…srk,rohit shetty,kajol,varun dhawan(opening of abcd2)….and then 5th superstar will be chartbuster music…chartbuster music also helps the movie..examles…aashique,yaariaan etc etc……so lets see 5 superstars can beat 2 supestars at box office…there is no chance in quality…
