Bajirao Mastani Box Office Opening

Bajirao Mastani has taken a fair start at the box office on Friday, but given the budget of the film, it has plenty of ground to cover in the next few days just to recover costs.

The best performing centres were in the range of 40-50% in the morning. Centres that have taken a slow start were dismal with occupancy of less than 15% at places. The average is around the 25-30% mark, which is decent because the film was competing against a massive release like Dilwale.

One thing is certain for now - Bajirao Mastani hasn’t been rejected like Saawariya was in 2007. It’s a better film and can compete. At the same time, early reports from theatres aren’t extraordinary either. So it remains to be seen where the film goes from here. It has to pick up today and then sustain the momentum in the next couple of days.
