Bahubali 2 is on a historic, record-smashing run at the box office the world over, but it would be an understatement to say the collections from the Hindi version has shocked the trade. The film has destroyed the record of the biggest of Hindi releases on its opening day as well as its first weekend and the trend suggests the 4-month-old record of Dangal – which collected Rs 387 crore at the domestic box office – will soon be history.
If the start on Tuesday is anything to go by, then the Dangal record could be beaten in less than 2 weeks – because the second weekend collections could be as high as 75-80 crore or maybe even higher.
At the end of the 4 days, Dangal had collected Rs 132.7 crore, while Bahubali 2 (Hindi version only) has collected 168 crore (approx). The lead is 35.3 crore over a 4 day period, which could increase to 50 crore or more by the end of the first week.
The 200 crore mark is likely to be surpassed today (the advance for Tuesday is outstanding) and unless there’s a major drop, the film could get to 250 crore by the end of the first week. That would put the Dangal record in real danger of being surpassed, not just in the long run, but in 2 weeks or less.
And.. we are only talking about the Hindi version of Bahubali 2. The All-India net including collections from all versions will cross Dangal’s 387 crore total today.
We are witnessing box office history at the moment. Smaller cities and towns in the South where no film had previously crossed 50-60 lakhs, Baahubali 2 has already become the first film to cross the 1 crore mark and given the word-of-mouth, it has the potential to double it.
Yes, the ticket prices are high, but the makers have justified the prices by giving the audience an experience that they’ll remember for a very long time.

Baahubali is an experience and result of hard work & efforts. The biggest credit should go to SS Rajamouli for doing something which no other filmmaker ever imagined. Hats off !!!!!!

I belong to North India and watches hindi films but I have to agree tat over the yrs ..south Indian movies has definitely overpowered hindi movies in content and story telling …as an Indian I am very very happy for supersuccess of BB 2 …bravo……

In Terms of Long term reception at the Boxoffice, least is the only parameter(among all BO records), as a “metric” this film will be gauged against. Yes, That would be really interesting in not only for its BO numbers, but for where “indian cinema: with all its regional offerings” in general is heading towards. Very important milieu, passage for our cinemas. Consequences can be “more interesting” in terms of Indian cinema’s future and its content. Till, then,let’s watch, indian cinema unfold its shape, structure for betterment of its true potential.
I watched this movie in dubai and guys this was the worst shit ive ever watched….the animation was no where close to good…it was more of a funny movie where we laughed at the shitty animation and god knows how this movie is earning so much…it doesnt even deserve 10% of what it has actually earned!
