Baby Saturday (Day 2) Box Office Collections

BabyBaby has shown decent growth at multiplexes on Day 2 at the box office, but not enough since the first day business was on the lower side. Single-screens at mass centres were down on Day 2, which was expected as the content of the film had little or no appeal for the masses.

Circuits like Rajasthan and C.P Berar have shown no growth, collections were almost the same as yesterday. Mumbai circuit is up, along with South and Delhi/UP (select cities).

As per early estimates, the average growth at centres that we tracked was around 10-15%, which suggests that the official collections on Day 2 is likely to be around the ? 10.5 – 11 crore mark. The collections in two days is around ? 20 crore.

However, the problem for Baby is, the opening day business of the film should have ideally been higher or around the same level as Saturday collections.

Moving on to the positive side of things, the upward trend at a few circuits suggests that the film could show significant growth in the next 2 days, especially at major cities. The holiday on Monday for Republic Day, will not just benefit the film, but also ensure that the night shows on Sunday (which tends to slow down as the following day is a working day), will continue to be good.

Baby Box Office Collections

  • Tuesday will be the real test,if it fails to sustain at 7crs mark..it would be really difficult to go for a HIT status..

Just 80crs left, come on you can do it BABY!

  • Nothing can stop it now! 110 Cr is the minimum business of Baby.on the downside, Muslims have taken the film in a negative way as it depicts some anti-Islam scenes.

    • Tell me one scene in the film that is anti-islamic…BABY is against terrorism not islam, just the name of the terrorists were islamic names.
Even Danny is playing a muslim, who is the head of intelligence unit.

  • Baby’s biggest advantage is 26th January. I hope it somehow touches 50 crore mark by Monday. That’ll help it get at least “hit” status. Can’t talk about trending, because it’s a very niche film. Hoping to see it emerge as a big hit.

  • baby collection will grow on next 2 days… movie has strong wom…. n movie has repeat value too…

    Sunday – 15 cr
    Monday – 18 cr

  • 50 cr in extended weekend looks difficult. For that, it has to earn 15 cr per day, which is very unlikely now. I though it will earn around 60 cr in extended weekend . Though 100 cr is still on.

  • Oh no!!! What happened. Disappointed collection. Hope Sunday growth. But other site said huge growth today. 79cr left for HIT status, Go BABY Go just like tortoise. Baby don’t run like rabbit.

    • sure as it will easily touch 45 cr in worst case scenerio in 4 days.
Let’s see will it cross 100 cr.
I still thing it will collect better on republic day.

  • If u see jai ho drop on day 2…. But it’s not happen with baby due to strong wom…
normally sat collection r same range of Friday or less than that.,..
don’t worry baby will improve day by day…
    baby rocks..

  • @Rai, please shut up your smell mouth. If you want to say anything then you said after 27th January.
    Baby rocks Sunday 15cr sure.

  • Probably will try to watch tommorow. The problem is its high budget so it need to be trended very well from here to become a clean hit otherwise remain as above avg/semi hit like SPL 26.I have a gut feeling that audience will keep surprising this year througly even with big films. Can’t say which film able to create box office monster before Bajrangi Bhaijaan in this year.I think this year will be hard for Bollywood as per business standard as las year also wasn’t quite good.

  • i don’t know why people creating so much buzz for this movie. .guyz today i have watched this movie and frankly speaking its story line scripting doesn’t have any sense. Worst movie of the year its better to watch holiday 2 times instead of baby single time

    • @gj007, the ‘Reply’ option wasn’t working for some of our readers. A lot of people complained that they weren’t able to follow the comments, as previously they were just used to continue reading from the second or third page. Also, it seems to have impacted the number of ‘thumbs up’ and ‘thumbs down’. A few readers wanted the simpler version back. We are still experimenting to see what works the best. Can’t please everyone :)

  • @indicine.. I too think this is simpler and easier to follow. Some people were replying just to put their comments on top. I saw Arjun Kapoor fan doing that..

  • @Indicine

That’s alright. I also noticed a user unnecessarily replying first comment on every page. Clearly misusing reply button.

We are anyway used to “@” for tagging people. If it is creating nuisance for you, it’s good that you removed it. :)

  • @gj, many chameleons missused the reply option, most of the time they commented on 1st or 2nd comment’s reply to get more visivility. I think it is a gud decision of @indcine.

  • @indicine:To be honest I am missing my old indicine very much despite having you introduced so many features and I think most of the readers feel the same.

  • @gj007:
“I am missing the mazaa of version 3 of indicine! That was much more exciting, entertaining and attractive than this newer one. Many indicine-users will admit it! Look, the number of thumbs up and thumbs down have also decreased! Will the new version attract the new readers? I doubt! Becoz There are so many sites with such white Backgroud colour.
That yellowish-orange colour was much more appealing! Even though people like Navin,Me,Babaji,Sambuddha are fighting, we still don’t fight the same fun! Okay, site has become faster and simpler! But, cann’t it get equally simpler and faster as the newer one with the same appearance and design of 3rd version!
@indicine, plz don’t take it as any criticism. It was just my genuine feeling.” this was a comment by me. But it didn’t get published! May be becoz indicine didn’t want to see such a comment on front page;)

anyway, removing reply option is a good step!
Some people were unnecessarily using this option to the first comment only to keep their comments at higher so that it will get more visibility!

    • @Everyone, we are working on it. Trying different things to see what works. This is the step forward, we need to optimise the website for our mobile readers. When we launched Version 3 it was equally criticised as people preferred the previous (black) version. The reason is simple. It takes time to get used to the new design and feel. As for the colours, we aren’t getting the colour combination right. It’s easy to change the colours, but getting the colour perfectly right is proving to be difficult. Any colour suggestions, please post!

  • admin screens kitni h ? ye clear nhi kiya nd also post overseas collections .baby is doing gOod in overseas !!!

  • I loved d movie!!
Still wondering wat went wrong?? Yes promotion has effects but movies like ek villain bhaag Mikhail baah had lesser promotion? I don’t think it has to do with Akki overconfidence like a user mentioned… But still wats sad is a Democratic nation like INDIA still have ppl that uses religious sentiments as a yardstick to judge a movie…only PK succeeded base on its collection not being hindered by senseless theories from fanatics… Anys.. Sunday Monday Tuesday is a very big test but IA BABY will sustain just like HOLIDAY did.

  • @indicine, we appriciate your dedication on that! Hope this new one is going to be equally entertaining like the last one!

  • For me this among Akshay 3rd best and intuitive acting I appreciated a lot!!
    1. Holiday
    2. Jaanwar (many may not agree but MASTERCLASS acting!) after series of action movies in 90s.
    3. Baby/Rowdy rathode

  • @indicine: plz use orange colour if possible, that was your trademark for so many years…
Also since it is “indi”cine so we should get the patriotic feeling seeing the orange colour which is almost the saffron colour used in our flag.

  • My Baby Review. Well….not review but you can call it an analysis of it. I will dissect the whole movie into it’s different aspects or features. the total scale’s value will be equal to 10. I will also explain them and at the end say whether I recommend it or not. Let’s go….

    1) Plot/Story- 2.5/3.0
It has one of the most engaging story I have ever seen! The story stays true to the Genre and was every bit what I expected! The story takes many turns and is twisty so it should be watched very carefully and the dialogues should be understood. Even a 5 minute break between the movie will have you being confused and looking like a monkey! The last 40 minutes were highly publicized but were not as good the 40 minutes after the interval with Tapsee and Akshay.I’m not giving it 3/3 as the plot was a little confusing the first time you watch it and I got a little Anti- Pak and Anti-Muslim vibe though the vibe was very small!

    2)Acting/Casting-0.9/1.0
The whole team had a very limited screen time but gave a blockbuster performance! After the movie ended, I felt like I personally knew some of them and wanted more from the rest! Recsting Akshay was a great thing to do as he was one of the main reasons why I actually watched the film or why I liked it so much! Any other actor no matter how seasoned could not pull off his body language. Tarzan,Technician and Hulk were the nicknames given to Akshay-Anupam-Rana and they are totally fitting for them! I just wished that they would have used these names instead of their real names as they were too common(Ajay, Jay, etc) while the villains had the cool names. The villain(as there are many villains I will not say who is the main villain) was very menacing and has to be used in more Bollywood movies like Nasseruddin Siddiqui who was loved as a villain in Kick that they casted him as a Villain again in Badlapur!

    3)Music/Background Score- 0.9/1.0
This is where I thought the film was lacking in. Don’t get me wrong! The background score was awesome and kept me engaged throughout the movie but it needed to have some getting used to. I would have been more engaged if they would have changed the Background Score in the 1st chase scene. There was only 1 bit of the romantic song and it was used to it’s utmost power. While the song Beparwah at the end came at a time when the people were filled with awesomeness and needed to become Beparwah as their country’s people will protect them!

    4) Directing/Editing-2/2
It is a Neeraj Pandey film! What more do you want? This is his biggest movie till date and is better than Special 26 in my opinion. Special 26’s climax was really unpredictable but it left me wanting more as so much hype was built around how they will steal after the police has made preparation. The editing was real slick and never once did I feel like yawning!

    5)Costume/Location-1/1
Everyone was looking their very best and it was shot beautifully over many countries.

    6)Dialogues/Dialogue Delivery- 1/1
The dialogues were really awesomely delivered and never felt forced! Well….except that Diwali one….It just doesn’t feel right that at such a crucial stage in their lives someone can make one liner joke….I didn’t get it anyways. The rest was absolutely great!

    7) Trailer Expectations- 0/1 ( This the part where I loose my cool)
The trailer gave more screen presence to these characters than the actual movie! I went in there expecting a serious Anupam and he was used to provide Comic relief. Taapsee ha one of the best performances at the 20 minute screen time. I did not know what Baby was, and was expecting it to be revealed near the end of the movie but it is the first thing that is revealed and isn’t even that big of a deal.I was also expecting more of the Item song with Esha as I did not watch it on Youtube and wanted to experience it on the big screen!Kno what I mean guys?

    8)Entertainment Value- 1/1
This is whether it was Paisa Vasool or not. Guess what? It was!

Total- 9.3/10 (1st day Baby collection as well :) )

Recommend it? Sure as hell! Watch it twice

Abdullah Zubair Khan………………..(And before someone points out, I love exclamation marks)
