Baby continued its steady run at the box office in its third weekend, but the film is likely to just fall short of the 100 crore mark. While the Akshay Kumar starrer did hold steady on its 3rd Friday, the growth on Saturday and Sunday was limited.
The film has performed well at circuits where the so-called ‘class’ movies do well. Mysore (Mangalore, Bangalore), West Bengal (Kolkata), Mumbai (Mumbai city, Pune, Nagpur), Delhi NCR region and other big cities in the country.
However, mass centres like Rajasthan, Central India, UP, Bihar and a few other centres have under performed.
Overall, Baby is set to finish its run with net box office collections of around 94-95 crore. Ranbir Kapoor’s Roy will get a fairly good release this weekend and so will ‘MSG – The Messenger’. Also, the cricket World Cup starting this weekend will affect the business of all films.

It’s quite disappointing that it didn’t cross 100 crores but still the producers would have recovered their costs and it would eventually get a hit/semi-hit verdict.
I think Akshay’s next two movies would surely benefit from the appreciation that Baby has received.Gabbar should be a good movie since Ramana is considered a classic down South.And Brothers could easily be Akshay’s first 150+ crore movie since it would have a holiday release.
Will MSG have an all-India release or would it release only in certain northern states??

@Arjun Kapoor Fan, please stop telling us what to write. According to economics we published before release, Baby was EXPECTED to recover Rs 25 crore from Satellite. Now trade sources say, it will only fetch 15-20 cr. Also, overseas share was expected to be 10 cr. But the film has under-performed overseas, share will only be 6 crore range.
So the extra 10 crore has to be recovered from Indian theatrical business.
We know our job, leave it to us.
AKKI should work on his PR Marketing and promotions. He will destroy his career n fan following this way.

@chala. Baby was great in the second half. First half was damn boring. A movie need to be good in both the halves then only it can be called great movie. I guess Brothers is an action movie, if so then it woudnt cross 150 crs cos of Akki’s dilogue delivery. I think Akshay shud stick to comedy films, he is very good at it. Rowdy Rathode had grossed 130 crs cos Akshay role was of a comedy actor baring few scenes in which he comes as rowdy Rathode or else it wouldnt have grossed 60 crs lol.
Forget 100 Cr. Akshay Kumar represents Above Average/Average/Below Average/Flop/Disaster. But from Baby I had expected 200 + Crore. 3000 Screens, Republic weekend & 50 percent higher ticket price than Holiday. Baby is A Below Average Movie.
@chalaa. I feel Akshay’s stardom has gone all time low with OATIM2. It is cos his weakness (dialogue delivery) has played an important factor in the movie. After that movie, his movies opening was similar to newcomers like varun and arjun. Akshay film can even goss 200 crores with a movie like Rowdy Rathode, Singh is King, Welcome etc. But Akshay is doing actions films like Ramana remake etc which is a wrong choice for him cos he didnt do much with actions films in 90’s and early 2000. Even Holiday was a great film, if some other actors like Ajay devgan or khans or Hrithik or even Ranbir have done it , it woud have easily grossed 175 crores, but Akshay spoiled it. He shud choose comedy roles with ryt script but with good directors like Anees bazme etc.

It should cross Aamir’s Talaash which is a great achievement. It will become second highest thriller movie in India after Don 2.

Reason for failure of Baby and rejection from audience is the fact that audience is now more mature and they know that BABY was an agencies propaganda film.
