Q. Don’t you think that Khan movies grossed 200 above only due to festive weekends. Whenever they release in non-holiday it managed to do around 100 crores only. Akshay, however, didn’t get any festive period still his films grosses 100 crores. If Akshay got Christmas – Eid – Diwali weekend, don’t you think it can do 200 crore?
A. You cannot take credit away from the Khans. Eid as a festive weekend was non-existent before Salman Khan came, dominated and made it his own. Christmas was considered to be a non-favourable period because of extreme cold in North India before Aamir Khan started releasing his films and made it the biggest period for Hindi films.
As for Akshay Kumar, he has got several favourable release periods, including the four biggest and third most successful period i.e Post IPL:
- Holiday – Post IPL
- Baby – Republic Day weekend
- Brothers - Independence Day (big day for film business)
- Singh Is Bling - Gandhi Jayanti (Haider and Bang Bang collected more than 200 crore combined)
- Airlift – Republic Day weekend
- Housefull 3 – Post IPL
It’s not like Akshay is releasing his films during normal weekends. He’s picking the best out of what’s available and he’s getting solo releases – something which Hrithik didn’t get for Bang Bang and won’t get for Mohenjo Daro.
Also, even if you release Brothers on Christmas, it won’t work, like we’ve seen with Tees Maar Khan which released during Christmas 2010.
Not being negative or critical of Akshay here, but there is potential for big films like Brothers / OUATIMD / Housefull 3 to get to 150 crore and beyond during non-festive periods. Like we’ve seen with films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Tanu Weds Manu Returns and others.

akshay’s film could gross 200 crores with festival releases but that can only happen if he chooses right script and esp if songs are good
No chance at all. Akshay is not a big star. Period. Even if he does 1 film a year or 2 years, nothing will make difference and he will remain a usual 60 cr- 80 cr suspect. Brothers and Housefull 3 had best chance, both had every possible chance to cross at least 150 cr, both had no disadvantage at a, strong supporting cast, commercial genre, two of the best release periods after EDX, still one flopped badly and other is trying hard to cross 100 cr thanks to franchise power. Excuses can be accepted once, maybe twice maximum, but it can’t be accepted every year when a certain star keeps failing badly despite all advantages. Shame and Pathetic indicine and joker fans. Just accept the fact that he is not a crowd puller like khans, hrithik and ajay. Even ranveer and varun are far bigger crowd pullers.

Answer—-a big no.it can be possible if HE’LL acquire EID/CHRISTMAS as solo release,and will do a 100+CR budget movie with South remake or taking Kabir/Raju as a director With HARSHALI MALHOTRA,then that movie can definitely gross 250+CR.otherwise giving a 100+CR movie looks impossible for him based on only ACTING/non universal script what KING SRK is doing every time.

Though both has the highest volume of successful movies I still opt for Ajay like media and others. Look at you tube Akki Ajay clash at box office, they have a long competition record only advntg of Akki is he is an extrovert while Ajay introvert less publicity on him and his family he always made sure. Looking at the clip the summary is media has always compared both of them. I believe had Ajay do same no of films like Akki then no doubts it’s Ajay. Both are superstars on their terms Akki having slightly edge due to his more commercial and Socialization but never underestimate bollywood Lion the most unpredictable superstar according to many. Now that akshay has got 3 200 crore.2 of them has released on diwali and post Christmas week (Christmas weekend was given to d3).yes edx can give you 200 or even 300 crore
