Ajay Devgn has reshuffled the release dates of all his upcoming films, as his ambitious directorial venture ‘Shivaay’ was postponed due to shooting difficulties.
Meanwhile, the actor has signed two films, one of which could release in 2015 itself. Ajay will start shooting for the remake of acclaimed Malayalam film ‘Drishyam’ in the second half of this month. The film will be directed by Nishikant Kamat, who last directed John Abraham in ‘Force’.
Announcing the film, Ajit Andhare of Viacom18 Motion Pictures said “Drishyam is an iconic film that keeps you intrigued long after you have watched it. Its box office record in South is stellar with lead role essayed by legends like Mohanlal and Kamal Hassan. Viacom18 Motion Pictures shares a special bond with Ajay, through our last film Son of Sardaar. With Drishyam we are bringing strong content and top acting prowess together and we are looking to set a new record for the studio with this film that will be our tent pole for 2015. Our past ventures like Omkara, Special 26, Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge were high on content and Drishyam will be no different”
Soon after wrapping up the shooting schedule of ‘Drishyam’, Ajay will start shooting for Milan Luthria’s ‘Baadshaho’. The film could release in June 2016, two months before its scheduled date.
‘Shivaay’ has been postponed indefinitely. The film will go on floors in the second half of October, but a new release date hasn’t been announced.
Nishikant Kamat’s last film was Lai Bhaar which was the highest grossing Marathi film of all time , he also directed Mumbai Meri Jaan which was a critical acclaimed. I’m pretty sure Drishyam remake will be a great film.
I don’t care whether his films are blockbusters or washouts. I want to see Ajay, the ‘actor’ not the star and I hope we see the old Ajay back. All the very best for hi upcoming directional venture! Hope it’s a great film. :)
@Sani, bro it’s not a masala film, it’s Drama thriller. I haven’t seen the film yet but its rated high on IMDB,..Nishikant Kamat is a great director so This is so exciting, what a great combination of director and lead. Can’t wait for this

Yeah ‘drushyam’ was a good movie & Ajay d would perfectly do the justice to his role . Apart from ajay , even our Charlie srk can fit into the role of a teenager’s father (he doesn’t even have to apply any make up , he any way in real life looks like a grandfather who is trying to hide his age) but the only problem is his over acting , people can’t bear srk’s over acting in such a good role. our charlie is only best suited for craps like ra.1, CE or hny :D

@sky, yes i meant that. Most of the Akkis super hit movies are remakes. Whatever i wrote above is accurate and as a Malayali i have watched every those Original movies. You can check. That’s why i am saying Akki is not so successful without remake or multi star support.

@ sky, I don’t know whether you are aware of Priyadarshan ; he is a Malayalam film director , most of his Hindi movies are his own original movies.
Apart from this list Some pure masala movies also there. Akshay’s Boss is a remake of malayalam movie ‘Pokkiriraja’ starring mammootty.
don’t compare malayalam movies to typical Tamil and Telugu masala movies. Malayalam film industry is the most realistic film industry in India; best known for their subject and story line.
Most number of Best Actor national awards , Second most number of best film national awards after bengali….are from Malayalam.
Only three actors won Best actor National award thrice, They are Amithab, Kamal hasan, And Malayalam Super star Mammooty. Mohan lal also won twice.
So don’t underestimate Malayalam film, if National awards are the Measurement of Quality of movies Malayalam Top the list.
If Ajay can justify the role An Altime Blockbuster on the card. Good luck Ajay..

Mumbai Meri Jaan was terrific film. But Lai Bhari was a bore. People walked out of the theatre in first half itself., it worked mainly due to excessive promotion and hype around it. Lets see whether he does it right this time around. Hoping to see great films from Ajay!
@ Sani , though i don’t like him as a person , i like him as an actor, especially as the only current bollywood star who have won National award twice. ( Amith ji also there).
But i am afraid the film can make the charisma that did in Mollywood and Ajay can justify the role as a Father of a teenage girl.
The Mallu version was the combination of three things; 1- Super content, 2 – Mind blowing acting of Mohan lal, 3- Awesome direction of Jithu Joseph..which he made a family drama in to a thriller part..

I dont think Ajay will be able to pull off Drishyam….That movie was a landmark movie in the history of Malayalam film industry with some brillaint performance from Mohanlal, Undoubtedly the best actor in the country along with Kamal Haasan. And i think they will make many changes when it comes to Hindi and that will kill the original script. If the makers can make the movie exactly same like Malayalam, then it will be one hell of a thriller in bollywood. Trust me, u cannot even breath in the second half as its such an amazing thriller. Hope they dont change the script.

Don’t ever compare Malayalam movies with other south Indian movies.they are most good in India being close to life.drishyam is best among it. Ajay devgan can never cop up with best actor of our time Mohanlal
