Airlift has been declared tax free by the Uttar Pradesh government, headed by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. The film, directed Raja Menon, features Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur in the lead.
Airlift is based on a real-life story of the World’s biggest mass evacuation of Indians during the Iraq-Kuwait war in 1990.
The story of the film is from the point of view of Akshay’s character (Ranjit Katyal) who helped Indians get airlifted to safety from Kuwait.
Airlift released in theatres last weekend and has collected Rs 72.5 crore in 5 days at the domestic box office.

Dabangg’ actor Salman Khan is currently busy shooting for Ali Abbas Zafar’s ‘Sultan’. The superstar has beefed up for his role of a wrestler, and all the fans are really liking his hard work.
Now, the latest report suggests that Salman has cancelled the shoot of his upcoming film quite often and that too on the last moment. According to a TOI.com, the ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ has been stopping ‘Sultan’ shoots leaving the makers and team members at a loss.

Just a word that the rumors being spread about Salman stopping the shooting of Sultan is all lies. No such thing is happening the media is being paid top dollars to spread this rumor and we don’t need to ask by whom. This film is a back stab by director Made us believe it’s a true story Ranjit who never existed. mission credit goes to air India and Indian airforc.. Those punch scenes going to bagdadh is a lie. Killing an Indian driver bigger lie. Beginning of the movie fluent Arabic in the middle only #hey no no mistake I am Indian “. That major pesting akki never did that kuwaiti embassy will testify. It’s a collection effort of all diplomats and making contacts. why his name never mentioned in any patriotic hero lists in India? overhyped movie overating of Akki by fans and Indicine especially. It’s collecting not more than 125-130. Listen beautiful movie but the lies surrounding it pre release really played with our minds after researching the true airlift story. Very nice acting by akki but wasn’t his fans that went.to watch akki it was other fans that went to watch airlift movie not akki. Hope it fare well. My wishes

The percentage of tax is around 50 to 60% in some States, and if you remove that, the price of the ticket comes drastically down….so a ticket costing around Rs. 200 will cost you only say Rs. 100/-…..this enables a common man to see the movie in multiplexes…………..
further, not all movie qualifies for tax cut……and moreover any such movie that depicts or evoke national emotions should be supported by the government……..because the government is for the people………the goverment spends crores of rupees in advertising national integrity etc., which can be compensated by promoting such movies…….so it is in fact a win-win situation for the government.
