Akshay Kumar’s Airlift is on course to become the first HIT of 2016, as the film could recover costs by the end of its first week at the box office. The Raja Menon directed film has collected Rs 44.3 crore in its first weekend, showing excellent trends both on Saturday and Sunday.
Not only is Airlift performing well at multiplexes in big cities, but even mass centres like Rajasthan, C.I, C.P and Bihar have shown reasonably good growth over the weekend. Even down south the film has grown phenomenally during the weekend.
Monday is a working day, but business should begin to pick-up evening onwards at multiplexes as tomorrow is a holiday for Republic Day.
The makers of the film couldn’t have chosen a better date to release, as Airlift would be a perfect Republic Day outing for the family. If the hold on Monday is strong, Tuesday could be as big as Sunday at the box office.

@Ajay Airlift is ofbeat film the fact that its getting haters burning is enough for me,Prdp was abig festival with commercial elements. Airlift will beat the last Non holiday sallu film Jai ho which released on 4500screens with no clash did 112 .

Saw Airlift – Sorry – disappointed – at all levels. Akshay seems to be replaying his baby 2 role but can’t act as usual.. Nirmat kaur is looking very pretty but her dialogues are not that good.
Congrats. Akki if you did 1 movie each year since 2012, you would be at the same level as aamir khan in quality movies and audience trust. 2012 -omg , 2013-spl26, 2014-holiday, 2015-baby and 2016-airlift. But unfortunately, movies like joker, khiladi786, boss, tmk and others spoiled your image.
Now people r giving importance to realistic cinema-Akshay Kumar…. You were correct sir….. proud to be your fan….

After watching airlift I loved it to any core. all the respect I had lost from akki after craps like tees maar khan, joker, khiladi 786, boss, singh is bling, he redeemed all after doing such a great movie airlift and he won my respect. i give 4.5/5 stars.

airlift is a film made with lot of depth.
it tackles biggest air evacuation in history by india.
films starts fast n with uneven pace n emotional twist n turns manages gud cinematic experience. it has some streched n weak scenes too. bt overall never put u off track.

AMAIZING AKSHAY. any roal with any level of intensity .. plus u cn realise he could do same roal with filmy style.. bt he picks the essense of film n delivers breathtaking performance .
CINEMATOGRAPHY- outstanding. simply superb. war zone in 1990s. kuvet streets indian ambessy evrything bang on perfect. BEST PART OF AIRLIFT
ACTING- no weak actors in film . case closed.
DIRECTORS TOUCH- based on true story they gave it realistic touch. its evn less filmy thn baby.
NEGATIVES-
some scenes streched unnecessary.
n evacuating 1 lac 70 thousand n showing sm 2-3 thousand people nt cool.
Watched Airlift .. The movie grips you within 5 minutes, the storytelling is fantastic, each and every character goes with the flow of story.
The Iraq-Kuwait conflict, effort of the Indian officials to bring about the evacuation, the way it has been explained makes sure that the viewer never gets confused. The best part about the movie is the performances, along with Akshay Kumar who is of course the heart & soul of the film delivering probably the best performance of his career, Nimrat Kaur, Purab Kohli, the old guy who plays George (who was also fantastic in Madras Cafe) all are exceptional.
The direction stays fantastic throughout the movie. The climax especially the song ‘Tu Bhoola Jise’ will give you goosebumps, I don’t remember when was the last time I heard the multiplex audience clapping, I witnessed that with Airlift.
I won’t rate the movie, cause such movies are beyond reviews, they need to be watched by each and everyone.
The movie deserves every bit of success.
I expect the movie to finish with lifetime collections of more than 120 cr.

Superb collections with an excellent trend..if Monday drops only around 15-20% like Bajirao Mastani then a very big lifetime total is on cards.. I hope upcoming releases don’t effect its screen space to a larger extent. Fingers crossed.
i am big fan of salman but this movie deserve to be all time blockbuster list and it deserve more then 200cr if bajirao can reach 185cr then airlift defiantly deserve more then that. honestly i never watched akshay sir’s movie in theater but when its comes in this type genre movie of akshay sir i didn’t missed any because akshay sir is best in this genre.
This is why i hate some of Akki fans,they are busy comparing Airlift with Jai Ho which are completely different films coz Airlift has good WOM and is a content driven and to all those saying Jai Ho was released in 4500 screens are simply dilusiona,Jai Ho released on 3900 screens with way low ticket price.

some saying airlift was offbeat lol on u guys airlift concept was mindblowing that itself creates curiosity among city audience and it had very nice songs and released on republic day period with great wom and patriotism filled concept the movie is running only on content as morning show opening was just decent and it was looking for under 10cr then wom comes into play from noon and business esclates in the evening anyway i think it will be sure shot superhit and will finish around 100cr as budget is low but i am disappointed with movie they show indians like garbage and incsult indian peoples and department.only last part was good.
