There was talk within the trade that Aamir Khan’s Dangal is a ‘non-commercial’ film that wouldn’t take full advantage of a big release period like Christmas.
However, the actor has clarified that most of his films, apart from Fanaa, Ghajini and Dhoom 3, were in fact off-beat films that did outstanding business at the box office.
“Most of my films are not very commercial. Apart from Fanaa, Dhoom 3, Ghajini.. most of my films like Lagaan, Dil Chahta Hai, Rang De Basanti, Taare Zameen Par or PK.. all were very different and all did big business. In the same way, Dangal is also a very different film. I am very excited about it, the story is amazing”

Aamir also said that he doesn’t do films looking at commercial viability.
“I don’t think of the commercial aspects, I do films because I like them” he said.
When asked about the rest of the ‘Dangal’ star cast, Aamir said that getting the casting right would be crucial for the film
“Casting is still in progress. Getting the casting right will be very important for the film.”
Dangal is a story about a father’s relationship with his two daughters. The film releases during the Christmas weekend in 2016.
Greedy person do like this. If Aamir make Dhoobi Ghat 2 Than he will also release it on Christmas weekend.

Dangal will be a great film and will mark yet another great aamir khan performance,no doubt about that.But since it ain’t a rajkumar hirani comedy-social drama,it will not be a huge commercial success.That’s my opinion.
Those who are pointing that Dangal won’t be huge as its non commercial as its not Raju hirani or brand.lol.
I think they forget Aamir’s Taare Zameen Par became the highest grosser for Aamir in 2007 despite clashing with Welcome who collected 72cr.lol.
Don’t under estimate the pull of a.perfectioninst.

I somewhat agree and diasgree with Aamir’s statements . I agree with his statements that Ghajini, Fanaa and Dhoom 3 were commercial movies . I also agree that DCH, RDB and TZP were offbeat movies . But according to me 3 Idiots and PK were not offbeat movies . You can call them different movies but they were not offbeat . Since last 6 years Aamir had 3 Christmas releases and 2 Non Holiday releases . Out of which in Dhobi Ghat Aamir had a supporting role . I have no problem with Dangal releasing on Christmas but if there will be a clash then it will be exciting to see . Not only on Christmas i would also like to see interesting clash on Eid and Diwali next year . Let us see what happens . Now that’ what I hate him even more which telling lies after lie.when he stopped to do commercial movies?dhoom3,pk all are commercial masala movies.also he said he didn’t hike ticket price ,but after he himself did double hike ticket price.I mean hypocrisy at it’s best.still he afraid to play villain roles till now.I couldn’t see him in a crazy exciting and too intense roles like ANJAAM,BAAZIGAR,DARR,DDLJ,RAM JAANE.
But this time no Raju and Dhoom brand.

Dangal will be huge success that doesn’t mean I said it will cross pk or d3 record, it’s because the genre and how the movie shapes considering appealing factor it will be great success for sure.Excuses word suites more to srk fans not us mate.
The target if Dangal should to collect more than 150-200cr,less than 150cr will be underperformance and anything above 200cr is bonus.
