Aamir Khan is on top of the world! Not only is 3 Idiots the biggest blockbuster ever in India, it has also crossed the 45 crore overseas gross of Shahrukh Khan’s Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna.
With close to Rs 23 crores in North America, 9 crores in United Kingdom and approximately 20 crores from UAE and other parts of the world, the film has crossed 52 crores in overseas business alone and is officially the biggest grosser ever.
In India too, 3 Idiots has beaten Aamir Khan’s very own Ghajini. With business of around 44 crores nett in its second week (till Tuesday) the film is likely to cross the 50 crore nett mark in Week 2!
Some facts
– Forget Week 2, no other film in 2009 has touched 50 crores in Week 1.
– No other film, except Ghajini, has ever netted 50 crores in a week.
– 3 Idiots has over-taken Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna in less than 2 weeks overseas.
Will the arrival of two new films Pyaar Impossible and Dulha Mil Gaya this week, halt the historic run of 3 Idiots? If Week 3 is strong enough, the film has decent chances of touching the 200 crore mark in India!
Note: While both 3 Idiots (in 2 weeks) and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (lifetime) have grossed approximately the same, when converted to rupees, 3 Idiots gross is about 10%. Back then when KANK released, a dollar was around 40 – 41 rupees. As of yesterday 1$ equals Rs 46.25.
in overseas there r people who do not like quality movie they r attracted more to lavish sets colourful dresses thats it thats why srk has so many hits there and srk,kjo,yashraj promote or make their movie for the nris so they are successful and amir always do quality movies and that is the only reason his movie hasnt done that great in overseas but in india story is totally different but just wait after 5 years he will be more famous and his movie will do the record business which no other star will match. only amir is the actor whose popularity is increasing day by day and here the question is not who is no1 immediately it is the question who has the caliber to stay.i mean to say after 25 years who r the actors who r remembered? i think only amir and srk will be remembered because hit is not the only parametre quality is the main think

we are indian and we should gave priorty to our indian cinema and culture , yes single sreen sreen is past but still are in presence……..its charms can never going to end ……as we know they still showing 3 to 4 shows comparing to multiplex 20 shows per day….. thats why still some movie had chance of breaking previous atleast silver jubilee 25week run of a movie in same theatre ………that is ….not possible in multiplex todays…..this type of records cannot be ignore from …..these type of record had made manny superstars like dilip kumarji , raj kapoorji, dharmendraji, aamir khan,salman , srk , hrithik and akki in our past ….and made there stardom till yet continued….so there are many records that cannot be compare with todays 100+crores …records of recent times ….

Its not all about money you guys,maybe srk has 10 blockbusrs in overseas but the quality of films are rubbish and more like same repeatin himself again and again and he goes every year abroad to all attend marriages to melas!its not big achivements,while you look at aamirs film you can see variety of films with him being played by different roles and quality work!srk is decent actor if it wudnt for chopras and the lobby he had created over the years he wudnt be in top 3 actor in bollywood!the guy has same nothing new to give!same old shit and grin and doin hhhhmmmm kkkk!
Why people are not talking about the best actor award. SRK is far ahead of any his present time competitors. Salma and Akshay could not get any single best actor awards so far. Lakshya was critically acclaimed & got a good opening, but just like Blue & Ki collections dropped after first week of it’s release. Fiza got many awards but the movie did flop.
Dus, Sarkar, Dostana did average/ab. average business, but r considered as success bcause people had very low expectations from a Abhishek Bachchan movie at that point of time.
Anuparno: I will tell u why Chakde didn’t work very well in our country (only) because I don’t know about the other countries overseas.. how it did exactly, even the movie Rock On which was one of the best movies of last year I assume.. I liked them both so much and that’s because I’m always following the latest of bollywood movies but others would never do In the past, they used to show indian movies only at Awal cinema, so Bahraini ppl never knew about any indian movies releasing in Awal cinema because they never mentioned them in our local newspapers or websites and all of them didn’t hv some cable channels to see the promos of the latest ones like B4U or Channel V, and only indian ppl used to be aware and follow up the day/time of release of any movies.
After talking to my brother, and trying to convince him that this way, no one would ever know about any good indian movie releasing in cinemas and requesting him to show the best indian movies 1) in all the multiplexes and 2) to advertise for them in newspapers, so we noticed the difference in the no. of audience watching indian movies, and also what encouraged our ppl to watch indian movies was the channel (zeeaflam) a free channel on tv which enable them watch the trailers and see the latest news about bollywood stars and their movies.
RBNDJ worked for 3 months in multiplexes in Bahrain, Ghajini worked only for 3 weeks.

Golmaal Returns & JTYJN the crap movies ( which were some super hit movies in India ) didn’t work in our cinemas for more than 2 weeks.. JTYJN only for one week!! ( do u consider them as a class or quality movies?!)
And who told you that Taare Zamin Par didn’t work overseas?!!!! It did well in our cinemas and worked for a long time!
And there’s another point..the distributers don’t sell movies like A Wednesday, some of Ram Gopal Varm’s movies e.g. Phoonk or Imran Hashimi’s movies.. so they don’t show them in our cinemas.. I don’t remember that they showed the movie A Wednesday in our Bahrain cinemas.. and the reason is, as my brother confirmed, that they select only big movies for big superstars to show in cinema.. that would sell and nothing else.. movies for junior actors or some small movies never sell so they just show them in Awal cinema and sometimes they don’t show at all.. some of them work and some don’t ( they didn’t show the movie Tum Mile yet in our cinemas!)
All the Best worked overseas I guess, but not in our country.. they removed it after 2 weeks.
