The audience in South India will have lots to look forward to apart from Shahrukh Khan’s Happy New Year which releases on 24th October. Two Tamil films are scheduled to release during the favourable Diwali period and one of them is the most awaited film in Tamilnadu – Vijay’s controversial film Kaththi directed by A.R. Murugadoss.

The other release in the South is Vishal’s Poojai also starring Shruthi Hassan. Interestingly, both the Tamil films release two days before Happy New Year on 22nd October (tomorrow). The reason for the Wednesday release is simple, in most parts of Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka and others, the Diwali holidays begin on Wednesday and continue through the weekend until Sunday. Most schools and colleges are shut, which makes the release date perfect.
On the other hand, Shahrukh Khan has decided to release his film a day after Diwali puja (Oct 24) with an eye on opening day records. In the last three years, the Diwali pooja day hasn’t been too bad for business, but opening records are impossible to achieve because the family audience is busy with Diwali festivities and the occupancy, especially in North India, tend to be poor.
Apart from the two Tamil films which are certain to affect business in South India, Happy New Year will also be competing against a smaller film in Telugu titled Karthikeya.
Back home in Bollywood, not many can dare release their films against a Shahrukh Khan starrer, can they? Historically, not many have survived a SRK clash, which is why Rekha’s comeback film ‘Super Nani’ was postponed by a week, a couple of Hollywood films have also been postponed by their distributors in India and only a small film Kabab Mein Haddi is releasing alongside Happy New Year.
Not many can dare release their films against a SRK starer, can they?..what do you mean that sentence????.. the answer is yes. for example JTHJ vs SOS clash in 2012 and we all know what happened.
The most anticipated movie in 2012 with one of the biggest directors in the industry + the biggest banner in India YRF + SRK +Katrina + Anushka clashed with a remake with mediocre director. only Ajay Devgan was the one who was carrying the movie on his shoulders.
Besides YRF films forced most of the exhibitors not to release SOS in many parts of the country.

It’s mean hny’s collection in south will be affected by south films. So hny will not cross 40cr in first day and not going to cross 233cr of Kick in lifetime too. My prediction is going to happen 210cr in lifetime for hny. Poor hny, better luck next time
only Pk can cross 233cr of Kick, but because of winter release, Pk will face winter and can cross 250cr only in lifetime.

India isnt a small country…hny wont jst be releasing in south,..it will be releasing all over india over 4500 screens…it can easily touch 40cr with 90% occupancy..so jst chill or take a sleeping pill…
@ajay rocks dude(the only fan of ajay) , there is something called as masala,which i am sure you are aware. and let me clarify that JTHJ was not a masala entertainer unlike SoS but still it collected 17 cr more than sos. it should have been CE vs SOS or JTHJ vs satyagraha , both movies should have been of similar genre then you would have come to know. and 1 more thing, in 2012 sos collected more than talaash , so does it mean ajay is bigger than him ?

WW, INDIA, OVERSEAS evrywhere its JTHJ ahead…it became the 1st ever romantic film that also with no promotion, boring script and screenplay (partial),3 hr long to cross 100 cts despite competition from a masla flick which was a trend at that time…Anyone other there would finish below 100 crs.

Coming on overseas, In Malaysia hny will be get only 2 or 3 screen because Vijay’ kaththi there crazy for Tamil movie especially Vijay, suriya and rajni. So overseas also effect UK, London on hny. If anybody not believe just can @Anand- original because he stay in Malaysia.

I think Jigarthanda and Alludu Senu clashed with Salman Khan’s Kick. You didn’t say the same for Kick. And we didnt give any excuses despite there were many negative factors affected kick.
