Rustom has emerged victorious in the clash against Mohenjo Daro. The industry is celebrating – because niche films like ‘Rustom’ do not usually achieve the kind of success that the crime-thriller has.
Akshay Kumar is getting all the accolades, not just for the success of his film, but also for the film-choices that he has made in the recent past.
All well deserved.
But while one camp is rejoicing, let’s take a moment to reflect on the pain that the makers of Mohenjo Daro are going through. Almost all films and actors have faced rejection at some point in their career, but a film like Mohenjo Daro probably hurts more than others.
2 years of hard, tons of research, sleepless nights, the lead star of the film battling through a personal low during the shooting schedule and suffered several injuries. The rest of the cast and crew also worked tirelessly in extremely difficult conditions to shoot for the film.
All of that meant nothing as Mohenjo Daro was rejected on the first day itself. The footfalls (tickets sold) of the film will be the lowest for a Hrithik Roshan starrer in a long long time. More than the audience rejecting the film, what’ll really hurt everyone involved is the fact that majority of the audience did not even watch the film. That’s the least that you expect after all the struggle – a fair chance for your film. Mohenjo Daro did not even get that.
Hrithik’s presence ensured a face-saving total, without which Mohenjo Daro could well have been a ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’ for Ashutosh Gowariker.
Where does the acclaimed director of a Oscar nomination film go from here, that too after three back-to-back failures? Will Pooja Hegde get another chance? Will Hrithik make a strong comeback with Kaabil? These are some of the many questions that’ll be asked in the next few days.
More than hrithik, this is huge setback for Ashutosh Gowarikar career. 3 back to back failure make the things hard for him.
Hrithik has films in hand and one big failure don’t affect him much but Pooja hegde career is in trouble for sure.
I have not seen rustom and mjd but what I get from my friends who watched Rustom (no one watched MJD) is that Rustom also is a decent one time watch but the clash factor and patriotism theme work wonders for the movie. An average flick looking to beat a classic like Airlift says it all.
HR can bounce back only if he chooses his future projects wisely and plan one release per ten months.

It has flop written all over it when its trailer released as the trailer received negative feedback while trailer of Rustom gets good response so Rustom is the box office winner. Nowadays audience are smart enough to go to theatres to watch movies just by looking at the first promo/trailer. Trailer plays the significant role in perception of audience which determine the box office collection.
Life is not fair. I hope Hritik makes a great comeback with kaabil (if it doesn’t clash with my King’s raess), gowarikar gets his form back, and beautiful, self made Pooja gets what she deserves i.e. superstardom.

The number 1 reason of mohenjodaro failing is negativity. All the media, sites posted negative news on mohenjodaro. Puls Hrithik was left alone all the industry actors were supporting Rustom. It is very sad that a man like Hrithik sir was left alone. But Hrithik sir will come back and raise his head up with kaabil. Don’t worry sir we the fans are always with you and we love u a lot.
Look Indicine………Ups and down is a part of the life……..Just put the film other side….The failure is a best teacher that teach about devotion,hard work and more important the sheer work……So its not about the world is going to end…..The one can start better when he is on the 0…….I know hr will come back strongly but i have a huge doubt on ashutosh gowarkar as many time we saw that he is a full of ego person.

It is vry shameful that hard work is going to vein particularly in bollywood due to shameful support to one side of nonsense actors,acteress nd fans !! So b.wood is only fan-based bt not based on content of good film .
It is really very sad to see the hard work of 2 years have gone waste, but still I think that it will not affect Hrithik much and he will bounce back with Kaabil……Recently I read somewhere that the Producer and Director of Kaabil reconfirms the release date which is 26th Jan, which stops all the rumors which were floating around that after the debacle of MJD, Hrithik will post pond Kaabil…..Hrithik should not move from 26th Jan date and this time all the Salman Fans, Ajay fans and also Akki fans will support Hrithik……..Now Srk has to options either clash with Hrithik or move to another date……and it’s looks like that in both the cases Srk will suffer…

MOHENJO DARO was an experiment which failed ,it was a big risk but a bad marketing campaign ,bad trailer and bad release date spoils it .It will easily do 125 + if release solo bcoz it was not at all a bad film but rustom receives a better wom than mohenjo daro

A major part of the disaster is due to the battle and rivalry between Hrithik and Kangana ranaut which took media by storm for 7-8 months!! there is a huge fan following for Kangna recently, they ‘ve trolled heavily against hrithik, and will do again in future. i’ll say its an end to his era( rather short one!!). also doing one film in 2-3 years gap like aamir is becoming a big setback for HR, s there’s no connectivity with audience. this is where Akshay becomes the pillar of the industry. and now he’s been the most wanted by any directors in India, things are going to change in a big way..really big.
How many articles is indicine going to make on Mohenjodaro? Time to move on. Hrithik will not change the release date of kaabil and will not spare srks ass if that’s the intention of this post. Try harder.

Who thought fan will collect below 90 that too with king in it. So, I request you to please be sympathetic to MD. Role tho superhero is karta hai, par hai to insaan hi na. Lets wish him all the best for future endeavours. And lastly, take a bow and a grand salute to our SUPERSTAR AKKI. He is indeed the best.
For me all that mattered was hrithik’s marvellous acting, and a never seen before story of pressure historic era which was enough to satisfy than stupid overrated boffins office which no one will remember. MD is a classic and hatts of to the hard work and dedication of the whole team. As far as clash is concerned, everyone knows that a certain small film luckily benefitted by cashing on making headlines and making their film hot news by clashing with a. Superstar movie. Chustom is the perfect example of how a small film featuring a non superstar can also get lucky and win of the mighty opponent’s product doesn’t appeal to wide audience. MD was not meant for every mass audience and it had its own audience. Poor trailer and VFX affected the buzz. Otherwise it was always much bigger movie than chustom. One clash winning with fluke can never make a small actor like joker a bigger star than established superstar like hrithik roshan. There are only 4 superstars. Hrithik roshan and khans. If joker was in MD then MD’s life time collections would have been lower than 10 cr which means only single digit and same as the opening of MD with hrithik. But guess what? If superstar hrithik roshan was in Rustom then opening would have been more than 25 cr and life time would have been 190 cr. That’s the difference between superstar and non superstar actor. One film can not affect hrithik. Kaabil will be blockbuster and beat the shit out of jolly llb, Crack and ikka.
Hrithik has delivered the Hindu calling card by reconfirming 26 Jan for kaabil. Khan fans thought after mjd, he will run with his tails curled. They forgot that – chidiyon se mai baaz tudao, gidhaon ko main sher banao, sawa lakh se ek ladao , tabe hrithik Roshan naam kahau.

No doubt that mass amount of time nd money was involved. But sometimes makers of a film need to take a step back and think, who are we making the film for? For us or the audience? The makers lived in their own bubble for two years and forgot that audience want excitement. And the high budget, was that really necessary? The trailer was bad, and the posters followed was worse. It is sad that so much work was written off in a day, but working hard isnt always enough in all fields. You need to work smart too.
Overconfident of Gowarikar responsible for this. I think Hritik will never work again with Gowarikar.
Gowarikar should have been make movie on Tipu Sultan life after Jodha Akbar rather than Mohanjo Dark…

Mohenjo Daro is one of the best films to come out of Bollywood. It was more like Hollywood production, where no money was spared in its production. We totally enjoyed it, but I do not expect everyone to like what I like. Hrithik’s dancing was the best I have seen in any Indian film, equalled only by SRK in his younger days. The storey was compelling and smoothly developed into an exciting climax. The fights between Hrithik and the cannibals were like nothing I have ever seen on the Indian, or any other production, and believe me we see all of Hollywood’s.
The taming of the wild horses was simply absorbing.
The only negative is the acting of the Female lead actress, she was a novice, and it showed. For such an expensive movie , a seasoned actress was needed for the role, but alas, she could not have supported Hrithik’s great performance. The film might fail at the BOX OFFICE….but in reality the cinema goers have lost the opportunity to see a great film.

As per my knowledge salman was first approached for this role had he said yes to this project fate of this film could have been different it was alot better film then most of contemporary bollywood films nevertheless thats life and hritik knows that and somewhere i feel hritik is a bit of arrogant in the sense of his self belief rejecting most of big banner films when i believe they were not as bad and going totaly against bollywood path which he shouldnt be this arrogance could be the reason for his divorce as well as he said in one of the interview i want to live fearless life in context of not doing films under pressure of big production houses but i believe they were all good films which were offered its not wrong leading your life in your terms but you have to be bit deplomatic since you are made big because of these commercial big banner films not because of guzarish or even jodha akbar but it was dhoom or kou mil gya(copied subjects from several hollywood films)so who is he lying to ….himself
