National Award Best Actor: 1968 – 2016

Akshay Kumar has become only the 16th Hindi film actor to win the National Award. Only 23 performances in Hindi films have won the National Award for Best Actor. Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has won the most number of awards for his performance in films like Agneepath, Black, Paa and Piku. Sanjeev Kumar, Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah and Ajay Devgn are the only actors to win 2 awards each.

Akshay Kumar wins National Award for Rustom

Akshay Kumar has added yet another feather in what has been a glorious career stretching for over two decades. The superstar has won the National Award for Best Actor for his performance in ‘Rustom’, a commercially successful film which released during the Independence Day weekend last year. Akshay becomes one of the few mainstream heroes to win the prestigious award.

Riding high on the success of his latest film ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’, actor Varun Dhawan has said his next film ‘Judwaa 2’ has a special cameo from none other than Salman Khan. Salman, who played the double role in the 1997 David Dhawan classic, has a small cameo which Varun says will “surprise” and “make people happy”.

Shah Rukh Khan praises Phillauri ahead of theatrical release

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan took to Twitter to praise the team of the upcoming film ‘Phillauri’ which features his co-star in three films Anushka Sharma. “Phillauri the attempt at doing what you believe in. Anushka Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh, Anshai (Director), Karnesh (producer) keep believing in the impossible,” Shah Rukh tweeted.
