The 53rd Filmfare Awards for the year 2007 - 2008 was held at the Yashraj Studios in Mumbai on Saturday. Taare Zameen Par bagged the Filmfare Best Film award and Aamir Khan received the Best Director award for his directorial debut in Taare Zameen Par. Darsheel Safary received the Best Actor critics for his role in Taare Zameen Par. Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor will most likely win the Best Actor and Best Actress awards. No, the Filmfare Best actor award hasn’t been announced just yet. But it would very likely be Shahrukh Khan who would walk away with the black lady yet again.

Two of his biggest rivals for the award are Darsheel Safary, the kiddo, who delivered a brilliant performance in Aamir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par and Abhishek Bachchan, for his truly award worthy performance in Mani Ratnam’s Guru.

Here are a few reasons, why we believe, the award would eventually go to SRK.

• None from the Bachchan clan (Abhishek, Jaya, Amitabh, Aishwarya) have as yet arrived for the Filmfare Awards. Is it because of the passing away of Teji Bachchan recently? Or are they oh-so-confident of Filmfare awarding the best actor award to SRK?
• Aamir Khan doesn’t attend any award shows from a long time. He sued Filmfare in 2006 for using his picture to promote the award function. Since then, Aamir hasn’t even received a mention in the Filmfare Power List, although he is one of the top stars in the industry. Aamir should receive the Best director award, but it is highly unlikely that Filmfare would award the Best Actor trophy to Darsheel. • Oh and, Filmfare’s favorite star and host SRK, does deserve the award this time around, for his brilliant performance as Kabir Khan in Chak De India. He might even get the award for Om Shanti Om, its Filmfare, just about anything could happen!

So far if any actor has been able to compete with the King Khan at the Filmfare Awards, it has been Hrithik Roshan. Hrithik has won the Best actor Filmfare award in 2001 (Kaho Na Pyaar Hai), 2004 (Koi Mil Gaya) and 2007 (Dhoom 2).

Filmfare Power List for the year 2007 has been announced. Like last year, Aamir Khan is surprisingly missing from the Filmfare Power List.

1. Aditya and Yash Chopra - The Chopra’s of Yashraj Films top the list.
2. Shahrukh Khan - retains his number 2 position with 2 blockbusters (Om Shanti Om and Chak De India) in a year.
3. Akshay Kumar - 4 back to back hits! The year 2007 belonged to Akshay Kumar and he is at number 3.
4. Hrithik Roshan - No release in 2007, yet the superstar manages to make it so high in the list. Hrithik is also the youngest male star in the Filmfare Power List.
5. Salman Khan - Partner was one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. Salaam-e-ishq flopped.
6. A R Rehman - The legendary music composer is at number 6.
7. Amitabh Bachchan - Number 3 for the year 2006, down to number 7. A poor year for Amitabh Bachchan. Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag was a epic disaster and so was Nishabd.
8. Aishwarya Rai - Its been a great year for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Guru was a box-office success, but hit headlines throughout the year thanks to her marriage into the Bachchan family.
9. Rani Mukherjee - Poor year for Rani Mukherjee. None of her movies worked at the box-office.
10. Karan Johar - The Koffee with Karan television show seems to have done the trick as Karan had no releases in 2007.
