Worst Bollywood Movies of 2012 (Vote)

Every year there are dozens of films which release and make you wonder what prompted the financers to actually invest in such projects. Though there weren’t any biggies that made one feel so in 2012, a few medium and small budget films actually led to an all-around disappointment.

Aiyyaa Aiyyaa

‘Aiyyaa’ is a film that can be termed as a sure shot recipe for sheer exasperation. The film comes across as so directionless that it manages to lose your attention within 20 minutes of its play. Now that’s quite a disastrous outcome of a film that appeared to be so promising when it’s first promo came out and only added on to the excitement as it’s songs started catching steam. After watching ‘Aiyyaa’, one actually feels bad for Rani Mukerji who is definitely made for better films.

Kamaal Dhamaal MalamaalKamaal Dhamaal Malamaal

Really, what was the idea behind this film which fails on multiple counts? First and foremost it defies the very title of the film. While one expects a ‘kamaal’ storyline in the offering, it dulls out to be a supremely boring experience. Secondly, what was being promoted as a comedy hardly manages to even make you smile. Thirdly and very importantly, it doesn’t have a semblance of a storyline. A complete mishmash of affairs which just doesn’t proceed in any direction, ‘Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal’ is clearly one of the weakest films ever by Priyadarshan.

Valentine's NightValentine’s Night

‘Baap re, yeh kya tha’ – This is what you end up exclaiming once ‘Valentine’s Night’ (to one’s relief) comes to an end. Now this is the kind of film where one really feels that all it resulted in was criminal wastage of everyone’s time, energy and money. Shoddy to the core and really boasting of any redeeming factor whatsoever, ‘Valentine’s Night’ with Payal Rohatgi as the only reasonably notable name is the kind of film that are challenged to even arrive ‘straight-to-DVD’ in other parts of the world. In that sense it is nothing miraculous that the film still managed to see a theatrical release first.

Qasam Se Qasam Se Qasam Se Qasam Se

In the name of a college romance cum drama cum emotional entertainer, this film gets into the zone that the likes of ‘Dil’ and ‘Jaan Tere Naam’, two of the most memorable college romances in the early 90s, had left behind two decades ago. In fact so formulaic and clichéd is the film that even when a couple of stray scenes do catch your attention due to their dramatic quotient, the subsequent scenes kill the entire impact. The only thing that stays in your mind is – ‘Why are such films still made in Bollywood? Do we really deserve them?’

Mr. Bhatti on ChuttiMr. Bhatti on Chutti

‘Mr. Bhatti On Chutti’ is a terrible film. And this by the way is saying a lot for the film which only ends up annoying you in a big way. Reason being that it doesn’t even amuse you in way that you could be mocking at it instead of laughing along with it. Supposed to be a laughter show with Anupam Kher leading the charge and running the film entirely on his shoulders, it doesn’t even end up making you smile at all, hence resulting in an outing that can be hardly termed as an enjoyable ‘chutti’.

For the poll, we have also included a few films that didn’t do well at the box office. Vote for the worst film of 2012 below!
