Tashan has been in news for a long time now. The movie stars Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor in the lead. Akshay Kumar seems to be unstoppable with 4 back-to-back successes in 2007. Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are on an all time high after the super success of Race and Jab We Met. Anil Kapoor’s last two movies have been blockbusters (Welcome and Race). The curiosity around Tashan has built up steadily over the past few weeks, major credit of which should go to the star cast. Does it live upto the enormous expectations? Will Kareena sport a bikini? Is it a out-n-out Akshay Kumar movie or does Saif Ali Khan have some part to play? What about the chemistry between Saif and Kareena?
Before the review, let me introduce the characters of Tashan.
Lakhan Singh urf Bhaiyyaji (Anil Kapoor) is a trigger-happy gangster who enjoys gunning down people and speaking English in his own inimitable style.
Pooja Singh (Kareena Kapoor) is a girl whom you just can’t trust. She doesn’t mind playing with anyone’s feeling to achieve her goal. She uses her beauty and jawani as her main tool to make others dance to her tunes.
Jimmy Cliff (Saif Ali Khan) works at a call center but his main job is to flirt with girls. He is not a bad guy but doesn’t mind turning to one just to survive. He is more like a chameleon in his characters. He changes his side just to escape out safe and sound.
Bachchan Pande (Akshay Kumar) is an electricity stealer. He can climb, jump and fly with the support of just about anything. He can break all bones of the body and the result will always be 100%.
Bhaiyyaji is hoping to sign a big project with some foreign delegates. But just then Pooja with the help of Jimmy steals his money. Pooja abandons Jimmy and runs away with the money. Just then Bachchan Pande comes into the scene. He is appointed by Bhaiyaaji to catch hold of Pooja and get him his money back. In search of money they all go on an adventurous journey across spectacular India that changes the course of their life altogether.
Tashan Review
Tashan is yet another Yashraj movie with a wafer thin and nonsensical storyline. A few stupid twists and turns make the characters look like fools!
Vijay Krishna Acharya, add another name to the long list of below average directors in the Yashraj camp! The first half drags endlessly, its honestly tough to sit through it. Comparatively, the second half is slightly better, thanks mainly to the scenes involving Akshay Kumar.
At most times the change of sets and locations is totally absurd. How can someone travel from extreme North to extreme south of India in just seven days by lorry, jeep, boat or on elephants? Also our characters have traveled from North to South and again back to North in what seems like minutes.
The same goes with the fight scenes too. Although the action sequences are interesting at times, why make it so unrealistic? When will Bollywood learn to create action sequences that look realistic? The strength and flexibility that our Bachchan Pandey possesses and his power to turn even the hardest object into spring to help him jump high, is something that may not even have crossed the minds of Hollywood directors. And seriously how can a normal freaking human being survive, without a single expression on his face, after being electrocuted? Also, the camera angle during most part of the fight scenes is inexcusable; it gives away the magnetism that is usually seen in Akshay Kumar’s stunts.
The placement of songs is bad and they act as speed breakers. Dialogues are bad at most times, Anil Kapoor’s Hinglish is hilarious in the beginning but later it tends to get monotonous and even difficult to understand at times. Music by Vishal-Sekhar is just average. Dil Haara and Chaliya stand out.
Tashan Performances:
Akshay Kumar is the only saving grace of Tashan. He delivers a power packed performance and manages to entertain like he always does. Anil Kapoor is equally good.
Now, what is an actor of Saif Ali Khan’s caliber doing in a movie like Tashan? He has absolutely nothing to offer. Very disappointing!
Kareena Kapoor too has no scope for histrionics. She looks smoking hot in a bikini, although probably a bit too skinny. The chemistry between Kareena – Akshay is better compared to the Kareena – Saif Jodi.
Overall, Tashan is weak in content and quality. The movie is high on Tashan (style), glamour and action but the content is sorely lacking.
At the box-office, the hype and Akshay Kumar’s star power will ensure a huge opening. But there are quite a few things that could go against the movie in the crucial first weekend. The lack of promotion by the makers, Indian Premiere League being the talk of the nation, negative word-of-mouth and the fact that the movie hasn’t released in any multiplex in India..
All said and done, a good movie would succeed against all obstacles, unfortunately Tashan is a major disappointment from Yashraj. This could just go the Jhoom Barabar Jhoom way!

Cry, My Beloved Country
The time has come to shed unstoppable tears. Tashn is not a film. It would be an insult to call it such, and in so doing group it with the likes of Madhumati, Do Bhiga Zameen, Mugal E Azam, Lagaan and Jodha Akbar. And yet, Tashn is in the news because of Kareena’s imitation of Halle Berry’s legendary bikini scene in a James Bond flick. What else can we do but cry?
India is a holy country, religion is given great importance, all festivals are celebrated with pomp and splendour. And yet, a film such as Race, in which each and every character is a villain (no doubt, some less villainish than others but nevertheless villains) has been made by the same holy Indians into a super hit. So what can we do but cry?
Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor are both vying for the number one position and yet both are not actresses. They cannot immerse themselves into any role, and make it believable. So their catapult into the number one and two positions is only based on their body dimensions. So what can we do but cry?
I cry for the genius of Bimal Roy, for the dedication of Dilip Kumar, for the creativity of Raj Kapoor, for the absolute sincerity of Meena Kumari, for the true (non-cosmetic and untampered) beauty of Madhubala, for the mischief of Hema Malini, for the youthful vigour of Hrithik Roshan, and for the perfection of Amir Khan.
Films like Tashn and Race have badly damaged our reputation as a society on which God has bestowed genius. So cry my beloved country…

Someone is saying that Race & Tashan, both r very bad movies! Well, I can say that Tashan is a bad movie form the trailer and all the comments above. Almost 90% of audiences said the movie was a crap, but Race was absolutely a good movie, there were many twists in the movie but it was an interesting one.

Hey All… Well in Tashan Kareena has done a fair attempt.. Both with image as well as acting.. As Fathiya commented nowadays being sexy has bcome an important factor.. But showing excellence in both being sexy n acting is really tough, which as far as to me Kareena is doing well nowadays… She did a splendid job in Jab We Met.. much out of every1’s expectation she has come out well… Even Priyanka is good in being bold n beautiful…
Well bout RACE - its is really good movie according to me.. The only movie which can suit to the title - “”Expect the Unexpected”".. So hell lots of twists n turns n thrills.. But watchable only ONCE coz the thrill is all over once u watch it… The main thing i liked bout Race is that in the initial stage all actors potrayed their already famous image- like Kat being bubbly, Bips being bitchy, Saif being safer n so on.. But finally all of them portrayed a never expected image.. Even Anil n Sameera were notable..DIDN’T U ALL FEEL THAT..???
But only thing i like in TASHAN is the TASHAN of actors image.. All hav given a diff look..But sadly all those makeover went to a BULLSHIT storyline… Well lets see wats for the next.. Hopefully RACE has joined the line of sequels like DHOOM.. thankgod Tashan wont dare for that..he he he…;)

Kareena isnt a really good actress! Her talent is dimishing with her wairst line!she has turned out so trashy and skimpy in tashan! Which probably the most boriest movie ever made!i fell asleep after 20 minutes n was woken up in the interval! HATED IT SO MUCH!plus kareena is too skinny and sending a bad image of being beautiful to young girls!

Forget skinny assed kareena kapoor and robotic / stiff katrina kaif for NO. 1 spot! My personal fav is AISHWARYA RAI! And on tashan! Its a strictly DONT BOTHER TO WATCH! Film. I would give it zero stars!

First thing first Bachan Pandey rocked…stunts were messed up by the camera work,wen u hav a actor like Akki the stunt scenes hav to be perfectly captured into the camera…
I didnt mind spending 100 bucks for the entertainment provided by Akki
Tashan had style in its own way…
I wud rather say the prod house was a bit overconfident
But overall Tashan was not a good movie….Max 2.5/5 for Akki

D2 or OSO didnt hav a story but were declared blockbusters
lets come to Tashan…
The movie is not as bad as is projected by plp here…

Tashan is by far the worst it can get for yash raj.notiing was right.kareena was just too trashy n slutty(there is a limit, bebo), anil wasn’t understandable, saif was a huge let down after race, akshay was just okay(the plot spoiled his role) generally tashan was simply lame!hey, i am huge fan of kareena; plz gain some weight, skinny frail doesnt suit anyone!

I see everyone critisising the actors which is not fair… Actors act the way the directors make them to.
The director and the story writer needs bashing, thrashing, kicking and may be lil rotten tomatoes…
Every actor tried doing their best… Loosing Weight is not an easy thing to do… If Director wanted Kareena to lost weight for the film, she did that… U just cannot blame her… If some director want her to put on weight, she will do that too… She is just an actress like any other who tries to fit into the role… but her role was pathetic…
Yash Raj Banner used to be good when they used to do one film a year with some dedication, now its all commercial..Not only they are are wasting people’s money they are also ruining the actors image…..

Orgasm Movie..
A well-blend of comedy, action and romance. I liked its new way of presentation.
Akshay and Anil immaculate presentation, and this is the first time Kareena was looking great. Saif was OK as a call-center guy.
