Sultan continued to perform well in its 3rd weekend at the box office, but the growth wasn’t as good as the second weekend – especially on the 3rd Sunday.
The only competition was from Rajnikanth’s Kabali, which was beyond extraordinary in the south but average / below average at centres where Sultan is performing.
The film will finish Week 3 with a total of around the 294 crore mark, which means it would have to add around 6 crore – after the release of ‘Dishoom’ this Friday – to cross the 300 crore mark.
On Sunday, Sultan also managed to beat the lifetime all-version total of ‘Dhoom 3’ to become the 3rd highest grosser of all time. It’ll hold on to that position, as both Bajrangi Bhaijaan and PK are beyond its reach now. Salman now has two films in the Top 3.

But if you get 3 open weeks during a festive weekend as bigger as Eid, collections are bound to come in this range.
Point is, not to defame Sultan, but to educate those idiots who were going gaga over dilwale’s collections.
It faced competition from day 1, still it put 150 cr on board.
Given the same advantage as that of Sultan, I’m not claiming it would have surpassed PK and entered into 400 cr club, but it would have comfortably crossed the SRK’s highest grosser till date (CE).
Such is the impact of clash on a movie.
So before mocking the collections, don’t forget to consider the conditions under which a particular movie is released.
