Star Screen Awards Nominations – 2008

The Nokia Star Screen Awards Nominations for 2008 are out and some of the nominations are quite surprising. SRK fans would be disappointed to notice that Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi hasn’t been nominated for the Best Film of the year and nor has Aditya Chopra been nominated in the Best Director category. But SRK sure has been nominated for Best Actor along with the expected nominations of Hrithik Roshan for Jodhaa Akbar, Aamir Khan for Ghajini and Akshay Kumar for Singh is Kinng. Other best actor nominees are Abhishek Bachchan for Dostana, Amitabh Bachchan for Sarkar Raj and Ranbir Kapoor for Bachna Ae Haseeno. May the best man win!

  • i definitely think fasion should of been nominated for more catergories. i now understand why Aamir does not accept these awards. talent is not looked at. its more about star status/stature and beauty. award functions are now losing their /credibilitystatus. it now does not matter who wins the awards….. if the national award could be won by Saif Ali Khan then …………

  • It just reminds me of what good movies and performances there have been this year and for me no one really stands out as so many were excellent but often in very different genres. How do you really compare the music of Jodha Akbar and Bachna Ae Haseeno yet both were terrific. So much talent that it’s a pity it hasn’t been reflected at the box office so often and critics have often been harsh.

  • For me.. best films of the year 2008 were as follows:
    1) Jodhaa Akbar
    2) Rabne Bana Deh Jodhi
    3) Fashion
    4) Rock On
    5) Dostana

If I was one of the organizers, I would’ve selected these movies for nomination, but to select the one which top them all, it’d have been hard to select the best coz they’re all good movies, but the most interesting was RBNDJ.

best actor (male) Shahrukh & Hrithik
    best actor (female) Priyanka Chopra

Best actor, supporting role: Arjun Rampal
Best actress, supporting role: Bipasha for BAH

    Best Director: Ashoutoush Ghawariker
Best Newcomer make: Farhan Akhatar/ Prateik Babbar
    Best ” female: Anushka/Prachi

  • Sudeep P: it doesn’t make me a boring person coz I admire Shahrukh, Shahrukh isn’t a boring actor.. he’s the best.. Fine.. let’s see your selection for the best movie of 2008:

(A Wednesday): It’s a good movie and the best part was that he wanted to revenge and kill those terrorists, not to free them, but can’t be the best movie comparing to some big & interesting movies of 2008.. it’s a one time watch only, u don’t like to see it again, and I didn’t understand why some terrorists were after a common man, a poor man who’s wife is waiting for him to get her some groceries! abusing him and his family therefore he wanted to kill them.. Why? Could u tell me why if u did understand the reason?

  • I AGREE WITH SUDEEP. WEDNESDAY SHOULD GET THE CRITICS CHOICE, FASHION, A MIXTURE OF BOTH CRITICS AND COMMERCIAL SHOULD GET BEST FILM. WOMEN DEFINITELY GET THE VOTE OF CONFIDENCE THAT THEY CAN SUCCESSFULLY CARRY A MOVIE ON THEIR SHOULDERS (FASHION). WE THE MOVIE GOING PUBLIC ARE TIRED OF ALL THE FIXED AWARDS. THE INDUSTRY WILL REMAIN IN THE RUT IT IS, IF THEY CONTINUE APPRECIATING BAD CINEMA. COME ON, ITS NOT ABOUT HOW BEAUTIFUL A MOVIE OR ACTRESS IS BUT RAther how they were able to potray the role. jodha akbar is Hrithi’s movie, Ash (was a fan until i saw her antics at the cannes) is just about beauty not spontaneity. she has to learn to emote better not just look picture perfect (she should watch a few of Hema, Madhuri, Shridevi, Shabana, Smita anf Jaya’s movies). please bollywood move forward not backwards.

  • Indicine Team:Who is Shahana Goswami? Is she the one who’s playing Arjun Rampal’s wife in the movie Rock On?

If she is the one, yes.. she’s a good actress and deserves to win an award, but there’re are many good actresses in the supporting roles this year as well as newcomers.. God knows who will win!

  • Shahrukh Khan will present this year the award for the best drama at Golden Globe Awards, I read on bollywoodhungama this news now, and it says that this happens for 1st time, that the organizers select an indian actor to present the award.

And this is a proof that Shahrukh is the most popular actor in India and that he’s number (1)
