‘Too Many Cooks Spoil the Dish’ – Guess this saying goes perfectly with the results of new releases in Bollywood last weekend. Three major movies, a Prakash Jha social drama ‘Chakravyuh’, a decent entertainer ‘Azab Gazzab Love’ and an Emraan Hashmi’s crime thriller ‘Rush’, released simultaneously and as expected ate into each other’s business. The fact that, Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year was also going strong at the box-office, didn’t help.
For Emraan Hashmi, who was on a dream run with the commercial successes of The Dirty Picture, Jannat 2 and Raaz 3 and critically acclaimed Shanghai, Rush has been a rare disaster. It is true that the film was never expected to open well, as it was looking like a stale product from Day 1, but the weekend business was shockingly poor.
Film is a total washout for Emraan who is slowly becoming the darling of the Masses. Surprisingly, it failed to even cross the 3 crores in its opening weekend. Day wise break-up is as mentioned below:
Rush Week 1 Box Office Collections
- Friday – 0.6 crore
- Saturday – 0.7 crore
- Sunday – 0.95 crore
- First Weekend Collections – 2.25 crore
- Monday – 0.3 crore
- Tuesday – 0.25 crore
- Wednesday – 0.20 crore
- Thursday – 0.20 crore
- Rush Week 1 Total – 3.20 crores
The film is out of most theatres in Week 2.
