MR X Saturday (Day 2) Box Office Collections

Emraan Hashmi’s first release of 2015, Mr X, has flopped at the box office. After a poor opening day, the film had to show growth in business on Saturday. Unfortunately, business at single-screens dropped on Saturday and multiplexes failed to pick up, resulting in yet another film failing to even get a decent initial at the box office.

It remains to be seen where the film goes from here, because considering the costs, Mr X had to collect somewhere around 23-25 crore in its first weekend. But looking at the trend and the drop in business on Saturday, the film is likely to finish with weekend collections of 14 crore.

Mr X will be the 6th consecutive failure for Emraan Hashmi after films like Rush, Ek Thi Daayan, Ghanchakkar, Raja Natwarlal and Ungli. Two of those films were delayed releases, but the problem for him is the gradual drop in opening numbers. Even a film like Raja Natwarlal took a decent opening of Rs 6.1 crore, but Mr X has proved to be a non-starter.

Sunday Update: Mr X has picked up at a few centres, but the higher occupancy is normal for a Sunday. Multiplex business remains dull, especially at metro cities where the film has simply failed to garner any interest.

Mr X Box Office Collections

  • Friday (Day 1) – 4.5 crore
  • Saturday (Day 2) – 4.39 crore
  • Total – 8.89 crore

  • @indicine, is there any chance of phantom becoming hit at box office? ???
I am huge fan of saif ali khan.
Becoz phantom has katrina also , will it be a hit or flop?

    • @Javed, we don’t mean to create negativity even before the release of the trailer.. but Phantom is similar to Neeraj Pandey’s Baby. It has been in the making for a couple of years and Saif is going through a tough phase. Unlikely to do well.

  • His starpower has declined a lot (bad films that also aren’t aimed at his target audience, lack of hit songs and emergence of younger actors). Looks like it will continue with his next few films. He needs a romantic thriller (like raaz, murder) or a crime/drama film (like OUATIM or Gangster) with great content to make a comeback but problem is he’s already done such films in the past audience might not be that interested in them again.

  • As said by @IbollywoodFan on previous MrX article…

I watched imran Hashmi’s Ghanchakkar yesterday night..OMG what a film it was!!!..
Dark quirky suspense absilutely novel , .. I don’t understand how these kind of films don’t run in India..
    Especially those moments when–

    1) Sanjay atre(hashmi) had to be awake till 1.30 Am in night.. HE uses a lamp n sleeps standing touching the wall because of his forgetfulness..

    2) a man asks Sanju his address, he comes outside his house n roams in the city n asks people on the streets which place is this..! Simply mind-boggling..

    3) Sanju(hashmi) ‘s mother frequent phone-calls at key-moments are clues which even a clean viewer can’t guess..

    4) Train scene at the start when The 2 THUgs ask Sanju abt money.. What an acting ?? Only Mr.Hashmi can do that !!! …

    5) the scene where he takes away Banana n Fork pieces !!.. The way he tests them is so hillarious..

    6) The boss of the thugs is simply killed by a Banana n a fork due to simple Mom’s mobile call.. What a logic !! . Simply amazing..

    7) and the robbery scene in middle.. The most awkard funniest weird out of the world robbery scene i have ever seen in a film !!..
    Amazing.

Vidya balan is OK.. The 2 Thugs n hashmi r astoundlingly amazing..

What a film!! Truely superb.. Ghanchakkar..

An unexplored genre in India due to lack of taste of Indian audience..

I m going wid superb 4/5 stars with Ghanchakkar… Immense repeat value..

@indicine . Mrx collections r low n doing such type of films have affected his starpower.

  • The biggest speciallity of GHANCHAKKAR is the characters n protagonists stay with u even when the film ends..

I have seen many films in recent 2-3 years… But apart from films like Badlapur, Jannat2 ,, i don’t find any film’s character remain with me after film is over… Every other film is either a routine rom-com or a masala venture…
    Ghanchakkar is right up there…

  • @shubham, ghanchakkar got mixed reviews and response so that’s why it didn’t go too well. Vidya’s kahaani, also a crime thriller, did well at the box office so it’s not that such type of films can’t work.

  • Phantom has Katrina which is a plus and it will be her first release in about a year. They should have item songs picturised on katrina to give it a big opening.

  • dear Emraan hashmi,
if you want to save your career, pls stop doing same type of movies & leave this Bhatt films club.
    we love you :)

    Yours true fan,
    Chain Smoker

  • Today I m feeling so happy and satisfied.thank u Indians for teaching this arrogant, stubborn, offensive, lazy star a lesson of his life.hope emmy learns from his mistakes, changes his personality and makes an amazing comeback

  • @shubham agree with you man ! I already watched ghanchakar 5 times and it’s fantastic! great movie with great performances! but flopped I don’t know why

  • no hindi movie next week so dont worry Mr X is safe affair. Pre release Negativity was created by aksahy and new bcha stars fans. I observed the same behavior by takhshay fans before baby release but despite 3 month social media propaganda baby was a loss maker so will be gabbar is back and bombay velvet. negative log k sath negative hi hota hay

  • well said my fellow star salman . yeh sb fakhshay or bcha star k negativity ka result hay..Mr. X will recover its investment 4 sure
