Michael Jackson dead!

In one of the biggest shockers of the year, The King of POP, Michael Jackson has died due to Cardiac Arrest.

The pop star who turned 50 last year had been admitted to a hospital in a state of coma, after he collapsed at his home in Los Angeles. CNN later confirmed his death, putting fans around the world in a state of shock.

We at Indicine cover the entire story as it unfolds, read on..

Michael Jackson, born on August 29th 1958, was the 7th child of the Jackson family who made his debut in the music scene at the age of 11 with his brothers, as the member of the Jackson 5. At the age of 13, he made his solo debut with “Got to be There”. Then on, there was no looking back for the pop star, who was fondly called “The King of Pop” by fans all over the world.

His biggest solo album was the Thriller in 1982 which remains, till this very day, the best selling album of all times selling over 108 million copies (rough estimate, could be much more). In comparison, the second highest selling album ever is Back in Black, selling just over 42 million copies!!

Other best-selling Michael Jackson albums include – HIStory in 1995, Dangerous in 1991, BAD in 1987 and Off the Wall in 1979.

Jackson also holds multiple Guinness World Records; which include the following

  • Biggest Selling Album Of All Time (Thriller)
  • Greatest Audience (133 million viewers watched Super Bowl XXVII on June 31st 1993)
  • Great Entertainer of All Time
  • Most Successful Concert Series (504,000 people watched him perform for seven nights at Wembley Stadium, London)
  • Most Grammy Awards (8 in one year)
  • Largest Contracts ($890 million with Sony Music)
  • The Bad Tour brought in revenue exceeding $124 million during 1987-1988.

He WAS and IS the biggest entertainer of all times… Rest In Peace Michael Jackson, the world will miss you.

The Bollywood Film Industries reaction to the tragic news, coming up soon..

Update: Shahrukh Khan very recently said, he considered the music icon as the “ultimate star”..

Update: Mallika Sherawat has posted a tweet on twitter “R.I.P. MJ and FF :-(”

Update: Farah Khan “I have just landed here to meet Shahrukh Khan. I reached the hotel and got to know about the very sad news. It is still to sink in that he is no more. I had a won an award at the a awards ceremony and Michael Jackson was also getting an award for his humanitarian work. The organisers knew how crazy I was for him so they did take me backstage to meet him. I have a picture with him which I will cherish all my life. I told him that I am choreographer and its just because of him. I thought I would retire after I choreograph Michael Jackson”

Update: Gayathri Patel who made her debut in Lets Dance “When someone called me at 4 am this morning to tell me about it, for some time I just couldn’t understand what the person was talking. It was unbelievable. It took me a while to gather myself and realise that the Michael Jackson was no more. This is heart-breaking and a loss to performers worldwide. I was so excited to hear about his upcoming tour and now we’ll never get to see the legend sliding across the stage doing his classic moonwalk. In fact, there was a rumour that he’d invented a new moonwalk for the upcoming shows. Michael may not perform ever again, but his music, style and legacy will live on”

Update: AR Rahman on Jackson – I am shocked at the untimely passing away of Michael Jackson, one of the greatest musicians of our time. I am yet to find an artist with that energy, perfection and vision. I met him personally after the Oscars in Los Angeles and we vibed very well. He said that he loved India and the Indian people. He said he heard good things about me and he was praising the chord progression of Jai Ho’s chorus. He was bursting with energy and told me that every dance move he did, came from his soul and did a five second stunning example. It was like a lightning strike

He asked me to compose a unity anthem on the likes of We are the World for him. I nodded in awe! He introduced me to his three lovely kids. The kids told him “I love you dad” and he replied “I love you more” as a proud father. I wished him well for his concerts and he said “God Bless you”. After hearing the shocking news I wished it was another rumour which would fade away soon. It took me time to believe that he is no more. I hope all of us value people’s existence more and respect them when they are alive. LIFE IS SHORT! Artists and their art live for ever. Jai Ho, MJ! We love you for your music, regardless of all the controversies!

I loved his voice in romantic and slow songs e.g. You’re not alone as well as Heal the World.

He was facing problems lately and was in a serious condition

People used to say that all the health problems he had because of the surgeries he did in the past, to turn his skin into white.

I was always surprised.. why did he do all this?!
The world lost now a great voice.. it’s sad.. Michael & Madona.. the most famous singers in the world

Spiderman..no.. it’s not a bad dream.. it’s the truth.. he was just a humen, not a God! used to eat, drink, breath like us.. like we do and we never last for ever.. we all die one day.

Nothing will last on this earth.. but for me, I wish that as long as I live, I’d never hear that something would happen to Shahrukh.. I will die on the same day

Shah Rukh Khan is fake, there is nothing real about him. He copies Don (Amitab Batchan) and calls himself Don? He copies Michael Jackson’s moonwalk in his dances and calls himself the King? Only dillusional fans like Fathiya can ever admire him. As for Michael Jackson, the greatest entertainer ever to live, and he was much more than that even though from a personal stand point he was a whacko, but noone caputred people’s imagination like he did. At some point or another everyone has tried to imitate his dance moves. 500 years from now people will still be trying to dance like him, and will still be remembered and deservingly so. That was his legacy, a true legand. I had the fortune to see him at Hollywood walk of fame last and will always remember that moment.
RIP the true King of entertainment.

I honestly think MJ fans loved him more than his own family – he died a very sad lonely man. No one will ever come close in our life time to MJ – The good part is …………..he is finally in peace….. No one to swindle him anymore. ……..and no one to defame him any longer. Sometimes just being an ordinary person is more enjoyable than having all the fame and money in the world. So people out there be happy for who u are…………….Chow

Vin:  (July 1, 2009 at 8:27 pm)

I don’t think MJ would’ve been any happier if he was just an ordinary person. It’s not the fame that made him paranoid, it’s the abuse that he recieved from his father as a kid. A common practice, that unfortunately still occurs.
So give me fame and money any day, and people can keep their ordinary lives. And deep down in all of our hearts, we all want fame and money………Peace
