‘I am proud of Tamasha’ Deepika Padukone

Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha was Deepika Padukone’s first commercial failure in 3 years, but the actress has said that Tamasha is a film she is most proud of.

“Men have come up to me and said that they cried through Tamasha. A senior film critic recently told me that he cannot get several visuals of that film out of his head, especially my break-up scene with Ranbir. That is the kind of impact the film has had on many people” Deepika said, during a promotional event of her upcoming film ‘Bajirao Mastani’.

Deepika added that it’s not the box office collections of a film that makes her happy, but the appreciation from the audience that satisfies the actor in her.

“I find it amazing that many actors keep a track of other actors’ films. But I have never been a ‘numbers’ person on even my own films. Shouldn’t films be made for people to take home something that they can cherish? To me, as an actor, Tamasha is a film that I am most proud of”

Talking about the reason for the commercial failure of Tamasha, Deepika said it could be because the film was shot overseas.

“I think it boils down to the cost incurred. There’s a school of thought that a lot of money could have been saved if the film had been shot not in Corsica. Sure. But I won’t understand that comparison. It was the director’s vision and the producer’s call. An actor can only act in a film and make the character come alive” she said.

Released in theatres in November, Tamasha collected around Rs 68 crore at the domestic box office.

  • They anyways had a success party and if movies are made today to take back messages home then why do you charge for the movie do an honorary job

  • Tamasha has found a lot of appreciation from a certain section of the audience so it would be unfair to call it a failure but it would be a good for her to face couple of failures before bajirao bites the dust so that she wouldn’t have to go into depression after bajirao’s debacle

  • every actor will say this after a film failure at box office a win win situation is box office success and critics appreciation.

  • One flop will not hurt. She still is current no.1. It was Ranbir whos career was at stake with tamasha. He must be the most worried. She has many good films and 1 flop is not going to affect her.

  • Love u deepu. You should not be ashamed when a good film flops. Tamasha was to hatke for modern audiences grown up watching craps. Now waiting for your next masterpiece
BAJIRAO MASTANI. Not watching that rohit shetty carfest Dillwale.

  • Dont worry Deepika BM will be a blockbuster. Dilwale will be a big flop. Last time srk kajol starrer Mnik flopped very badly.

  • BM release ke baadh bi aise hi bolega thu….it is commercially failed but all SRK haters come to me and said they cant get over the visuals…..it matters for me not collections.

  • She is such a big liar that nobody believes her after this …
Deepika u will give a string of flops…
    ur career is going downwards…..!!!!
Ur voice spoils the whole fun of movie ?

  • Me too proud of tamasha. Ranbir deepika imtiaz can give several hits in their career ahead but wat tamasha has given can’t b measured by just bo. Lot of ppl hv absolutely loved the movie and some like me could see reflection of my own life in Ved’s story

    Love u Ranbir

  • It is very important that actors and actresses don’t disown their movies after their failures . Because it is not always confirmed that a movie will be commercially successful or not . I have not seen Tamasha but critics have praised the performances of Ranbir and Deepika . But one thing is clear the movie did not clicked with the audience . This is her 2nd failure after Finding Fanny in the last 2 years which is an impeccable record . More than Deepika Ranbir will be disappointed with Tamasha since it is his 4th back to back failure and 3rd in 2015 .

  • Just imagine if bm had clashed with prdp
then prdp wouldn’t cross 80 crore considering it’s Monday collection !!!!!
no one and nothing can save bm to become a big flop …….. !!!!

  • @challa You think I am a bot like robotic expression actor shahrukh. Dilwale is soon going to be a flop in front of Bajirao mastani. Srk career will be on roads.

  • most of the people who have seen the film liked it and it was an average grosser but dont worry Deepika you Bajirao Mastani will be the biggest dilm of the year and you will proud of it.

  • I cant understand why actors always say that they are not interested in numbers..if u are not interested in numbers then why do u guys charge these so called numbers for doing a particular film..someone please lodge this truth in the head of these people that Bollywood as a whole is a Film Industry and not a Charitable Organisation.. only SRK has the guts to talk about numbers in the media..yesterday i read an article in DNA where he said that 1000 crore business is a possibility and gave the solution also for the same..it was one of the better columns i have read in recent past.

  • so deepu what r ur views on chennai express happy new yr and race 2 ??
bad films with big numbers? n u still promoted them heavily n confidantly as if ur promoting sm classic.
